I had to get it done before my wife went out in the car. Reality it's a 2 minute job - get your (special) trim removal tool in and unclip the light. Unplug the connector then connect it up to the new light and push it in.

Plus add another 2 minutes for the photos....

The resonator went into the exhaust yesterday - probably should have take some shots when it was up on the hoist. I may see what I can get up as far as sound clips but what I've found difficult to capture is the volume level.

that special trim removing tool you have looks awesome, looks like you may even be able use it as a bbq tool if you find yourself short...

i nearly went non res with my exhasut system but the amount of people i have seen adding as res these days makes me glad i didn't. nice work on getting it sorted, you will probably enjoy it more now.

Yeah I just won't tell the wife when she's going to make her omlette

I wasn't aware that they were putting on a non-res system. They just told me I was going to "love it".

Well going for a run through the Hills was awesome but driving in city traffic with slow DSG gear changes the non-resonated system was about as pleasant as listening to a vuvuzela:

So I ended up running the car in manual mode most of the time to try and avoid slow noisy gear changes.

I've only driven it for a little bit with resonator fitted, but I'm much happier. Still get all the right noises - it's just really moderate when driving normally and still got a bit of a bark at WOT. Not as much as before but unless you go with a bi-modal system it's almost impossible to achieve best of both worlds.

        • Hey Tigger, what did the exhaust roughly cost you from Viezu and do they do bolt on ones or do they fab it for you?

You'll need to talk to Simon at Viezu about stock/pricing for the Tig hardware.

Though if you want an idea on their hardware pricing you can check out some of their Hot Tuner pricing from last year. I don't think things have changed that much: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...als-76939.html

Tiguan DP pricing should be very similar to Golf 5/6 as the Tig DP is a very similar unit to the Golf R.

I'd expect ball-park that a full exhaust fir the Tig should be in the $1,500-$2,000 range.

I've been a bit of a test bunny for Viezu hardware so all the things that they have developed for the Tig have been on my car at some stage.

You won't get any change in terms of exhaust note until you change the cat-back section. The stock exhaust has 2 rear mufflers and these cut out pretty much everything (changing the DP only has a minimal effect).

If it's an exhaust note you're after you could try taking out the centre muffler but then you may find it's a bit noisy (like me) and put a resonator back in to quieten it down.

              • So I got mine done the other day. H&R ~35mm drop. It seems a tad higher in the rear than the front, but I've noticed that on some of the other lowered Tigs.

                  • The bellow is not my quote, but I believe in it and there is an advice in it, to those who always look for the cheapest price.

                    John Ruskin - Common law of business balance;

“There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person’s lawful prey. It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money — that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot — it can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

It's quieter and a slightly deeper sound as well. You don't get as much noise on WOT but then it was REALLY loud before.

At the moment I'd call it discreet but noticeable whereas before it was in your face with a LOT of noise on gear changes.

To give you an idea of how much noise there was I wouldn't be able to make phone calls on my BT without the exhaust drowning me out. When you were at cruising speed it was OK but moderate acceleration with slowish DSG gear changes where it slides the gears (25-50% throttle throttle) the exhaust would start trumpeting and was painfully loud without really going that fast.

So overall much happier... but still miss the braaaaaap on WOT.

Unfortunately the brake light only fits: Mk5 Golf/Jetta, Tiguan and B6 Passat. Here's the link: Volkswagen Tiguan 1 4 Motion 2.0T ECS News Hella Smoked LED Third Brake Light for Volkswagen MKV

The thing I like about this mod is that the part is made by Hella who I'm pretty sure do the original part so comes out of the same moulding - just a different colour.

Interesting quote. You would never see a statement like that on a show like Today Tonight/Current Affairs. Consumers don't want to hear that stuff.

Granted, there are some people that do charge the higher price and still deliver crap.

It doesn't surprise me. The population is getting dumber.
Put it simply; people who are more intelligent, have fewer babies and because the intelligence is part genetic, the IQ of population is dropping.

So, eventually, we will flood the planet with crap.

                            • A couple of updates....

Had the ECU reflashed this week with the latest Viezu stage 2 tune and there's a noticeable improvement over their previous "performance" level tune.

Low end pick-up is a lot better and more punch in the top end also. So it's an all-round improvement.

I'm still waiting for the ECU to fully adapt and to get my "old" intake back on then I'll put it on the dyno.

The other "small" mod is a new antenna. I've been hunting for one that I like for ages and managed to score this custom engineered CNC machined antenna. Sorry this is a 1-off. I think it looks schmick
