Well as a fitting finale and 1,000th post in this thread I'm going to close this chapter on the Tig.

It's been a great ride. I have enjoyed every minute of it and if I was in the same position I would do it all again. Maybe with hindsight I'd do things a little differently but hey we got there in the end even if it was a bit of a round-about journey including 4 trips to Melbourne and the ECU winging its way to Brisbane, most of the fun is in the journey and not necessarily the final destination.

So as one door closes and another one opens, there's a new chapter starting for the Tig and who knows where it's going to go... only time will tell.

Do I have any regrets? Perhaps that I didn't get around to fitting a BBK and doing a turbo upgrade... and possibly a dual exit exhaust. But then again it was my daily driver and not a track car and I still wanted to keep my wife and 3 kids

    Here's where it all started:

And after driving close to 100,000km and adding a boot-load of mods here's where it ended up:

I have enjoyed all the encouragement/support and information sharing that this forum provides. I probably won't be as active on here as in the past 3 or so years given that I won't have a VW in the drive. But who knows when the MQB Tig arrives I may well be encouraged back

The 3.0TFSI runs a detuned version of the S4/S5 engine, so imagine where it can take you whereas the SQ5, brilliant as it is, is more limited in future options .....
Thanks Sharkie - definitely food for thought.

I think it's because the SQ5 is not much more and gets a lot of the "extra" kit as standard. Though a 300kW Q5 is going to be a bit of a weapon.

Do a supercharger pulley upgrade and an extra ~50kw can be yours. 300KW Q5 that revs to 7000rmin anyone? It will leave a SQ5 for dead after that

I might just have to go and take both for a test drive

I only managed to give the Tig a quick wash when I got home on Friday night as it was picked up later on that evening. Actually the new owner caught me out give it a final wipe over to get rid of some of those annoying dribbles that appear from under the roof racks. Fortunately it wasn't raining but I know the feeling I've picked up a brand new car when it was bucketing down and driven out of the showroom into a downpour

Ramee there's an attraction for having warranty. So getting a car with the level of performance that you're happy with and doesn't require you to mod it to get it there is a benefit.

I don't have a problem buying a car and doing some cosmetic/non-performance enhancements (wheels, suspension, exhaust, body kit, vinyl wrap, etc).

The wife likes Audis and SUVs so it's an easy sell on the home front. I'd just have to get a second job to pay for it!!!!

For me it's not about all out performance as you really can't use it on public roads. It's more about creating something that is desirable and that sounds awesome [emoji1]

The wife's Mazda 3 runs out of warranty later this year...
