Hi and welcome. What is going on with the Mk6 key issue. Post about it in this forum: https://www.vwwatercooled.com/forum/vw-golf/mk6-golf

On a somewhat related topic - how bloody expensive is it to advertise on CarSales these days!!
Thankfully my last few cars have sold via Facebook groups so have cost me nothing, but CarSales costs are next level.
Good luck with the sale - hopefully it goes to a good home.

Congrats on the new car Sharkie! I dont know where you are going to park it as you have a very full garage and driveway already!!
I watched a review of this same car recently on Driving Enthusiast (Aussie reviewer on Youtube) and he was quite impressed with it. Looks like a solid option...

The coolant tank failing is quite common on VW/Audi vehicles, with the integrated coolant level sensor (which are the 2 probes you mentioned) leaking and causing the wiring loom which connects to it to corrode. If you are lucky then the wiring loom will just need a good clean, but in bad cases it gets...

With 180,000km there would have been heaps of carbon buildup on the valves which slowly chokes the engine and reduces power etc. I bet the difference is night and day and you have some extra power now that the air can flow properly without restriction.
Hopefully the misfire is either gone...

What area of VIC are you in? If in Melbourne, are you north, south, east or west?
Your gearbox noise could be anything from a worn engine mount (specifically the 'dog bone' mount located under the gearbox) to an internal issue like a worn clutch pack or failing mechatronics on the DSG transmission....Last edited by Lucas_R; 18-03-2026, 08:34 AM.

Who is buying a Cupra Formentor VZ5 with the 5 cylinder engine?
If I had $100k to spend on a car im not sure id pay that for a Cupra, but its certainly cool to have the 5 cylinder engine available. Who is buying one?
I was pretty keen on a lightly used Formentor about 6 months ago, but ultimately bought the SQ5.

Do you mean SSR wheels? If so, SSR are well known and good quality wheels. They make a GTX04 style rim in the spec you have provided: https://autotechnik.com.au/products/...8x8-5-44-5-112
Ive never heard of SSC and when I Googled SSC nothing comes up.

A walnut blast is a great idea and is what I meant in my previous post when I mentioned having the inlet valves cleaned. There are various ways to have the inlet valves cleaned....some will manually try to clean them with a solvent and various brushes/picks to remove the carbon. But walnut blasting...

235/35/19 is the safe choice and is quite commonly used on the Golf platform. Your suggestion of a 245/35/19 should be ok with a car that is not lowered, but that extra 1cm of width and additional sidewall height might be enough to cause rubbing issues?? You wont get else much in the way of feedback...

Check in the boot area around where the spare wheel is, as the Golf hatchbacks are known for getting leaks from either several spots such as:
- rear hatch rubber weather seal
- taillights seal
- rear hatch wiring grommet
Generally if you have water leaking through...

I had 235/35/19 on my Mk7 GTI with basically the same wheel specs (i think my offset was 42 instead of 44) and lowered on 034 Motorsport springs which was about a 30mm drop. I had some very light rubbing on the front guard plastic inner liner when going in/out of driveways, but otherwise perfect....

If you replaced spark plugs and ignition coils recently with good quality items then given your car has 180,000km on it, the next logical place to look will be dirty injectors and/or carbon buildup on the inlet valves and injector tips.
You might see some improvement from running some good...

You need a replacement head unit (unless you can find someone who can replace the touchscreen parts) https://vwcentral.com.au/products/ge...ok-caddy-jetta
