  • Golf Broken Down Help

Hey guys, have an issue with my car (golf mk7 tsi 1.4) wondering if anyone has any idea before i get it towed to a shop. Was driving it and suddenly car starts stuttering all over the place. I managed to get it to a sidestreet and checked on obd11 and saw this. Car is regularly serviced and I had the spark plugs and coil packs changed a year ago.

    Thanks

    Clinton: Hi.
Not much diagnostic information in your OBD11 screenshot - other than the fact that the problem causes misfires in all 4 x cylinders (which likely means that the reason for the problem is NOT related to an individual cylinder coil, or spark plug).

So, I suggest that the way forward for a fix is to investigate the usual suspects - meaning fuel and ignition timing (i.e, injector flow, rail pressure, cam timing)

It could be any number of things - unfortunately your screenshot doesnt provide much context other than seeing you are misfiring on all cylinders. It could be a timing issue (timing chain/belt), or if you are lucky it could be something more simple (and much cheaper) like a cam position sensor or crank position sensor. Plenty of other things it could be also.

Are there any other faults/errors other than the misfire?

Did the car have decent fuel in it at the time (eg 95 or better octane and not from Habib's fuel station which is 0.30 cents per litre cheaper than everywhere else) as well as a decent amount of fuel.

As Lucas mentioned above, I’d definitely try filling up with good 98 fuel from BP or another trusted petrol station to see if that improves things. Also, have you noticed any oil consumption? Are you hearing excessive pre-detonation at lower RPMs under moderate load?

I'm pretty sure that in the petrol mk7 the filter is lifetime and inside the fuel pump in the tank.

Gutoneto: 101% correct! Assuming this car has a petrol engine and without AWD - the setup is like this:

              Note for item #1:
              1 - Fuel delivery unit
With fuel system pressurisation pump -G6-.
With integrated fuel filter; cannot be renewed individually.
With integrated pressure limiting valve; cannot be renewed individually.
