    @clinton: Hi.

    Hmm......... if the ONLY error-message on the car is P030000 - then it means that there must be a failure in a component that ONLY affects cylinder 4! This greatly limits the possible causes that might otherwise cause random misfires across all cylinders. Spark-plug/injector/valves/piston-equipment specifically for cylinder 4 are the obvious places to look!!!

      If you replaced spark plugs and ignition coils recently with good quality items then given your car has 180,000km on it, the next logical place to look will be dirty injectors and/or carbon buildup on the inlet valves and injector tips.

      You might see some improvement from running some good quality injector cleaner through the fuel tank, but this will only be a temporary fix as the injectors will need to be manually removed and cleaned properly as well as the inlet valves.

        Booked in a walnut blast, will ask them to clean the injectors as well. Is there anything that is easy and worth doing with that while they have everything open?

          A walnut blast is a great idea and is what I meant in my previous post when I mentioned having the inlet valves cleaned. There are various ways to have the inlet valves cleaned....some will manually try to clean them with a solvent and various brushes/picks to remove the carbon. But walnut blasting is faster and does a much better job - far more efficient and is the better way to do it.

          As for other things to have checked......perhaps having the injectors cleaned and flow tested to ensure they are working correctly and rule out that you have a faulty injector. Not sure if the mechanic who is doing the walnut blast can do the injector testing, as they may need to be sent off to someone with the correct machine to check the injectors.

          Also probably a good idea to have any wiring for the ignition coils and high pressure fuel pump checked for damage etc. Also might be a good idea to look into the fuel filter (the one in the fuel tank) as mentioned by someone else earlier in this thread.
