After doing the electric window buttons the glove box handle looked like it needed an update too... once you start it's hard to stop

Hi just seen this post today otherwise I would have told you it wouldn't fit. I looked at this mod last year and also bought the handle in the hope of it fitting. But like you I was let down big time!Originally posted by tigger73 View PostWell quickly found that the Golf glove box latch is different to theTig

Thanks. Not sure it's going to be in exactly the same form when next cruise comes around. It's a brilliant exhaust for doing runs through the hills, however in city traffic it's a bit of a pain.... which is where I do 90% of my daily driving. If it was only a weekend car I'd leave it as is and enjoy driving it hard every time, however it's also my daily driver which is where the problem lies. Yeah I know I need a daily driver AND a weekend carOriginally posted by Ozrodent View PostThat's one hell of a meaty sounding exhaust... Even from a hundred metres away

Normal driving is hard to do quietly unless you totally baby it and keep under 2,000rpm. Moderate acceleration is probably worst as it's noisy, loud and not all that quick. Wife says it sounds like a "P" platers car (no offense to any "P" platers out there), so at some stage in the not too distant future it'll be in a different format. Still have to work out exactly what to do - either stick a resonator back in or go bi-modal.
Talking to the exhaust boys at the moment....

No problem really as I know a few Golf boys who wanted one anyway... only took 2 minutes to work out it wasn't going to work so no major time/effort invested.Originally posted by Naresh View PostHi just seen this post today otherwise I would have told you it wouldn't fit. Do you know if there is a VW brushed aluminium part that does fit the Tig? I'm still keen to do the mod as I think it looks good and adds a nice touch to an otherwise drab looking glovebox.
Finding one for the Tig is going to be hard.... and then find it in RHD version is going to be even harder still.
I'm thinking it may just be easier to get some aluminium-look contact and cover the existing latch in that.... hmmmLast edited by tigger73; 07-10-2013, 06:07 PM.

Yeah they probably sell it in a 10m roll and I'll need all of 5cm to cover the latch...Originally posted by MGV View PostOMG. i can see a brushed aluminium vinyl wrapped Tig in the making...
Maybe I'll buy a roll, test fit on mine and sell a Tig latch upgrade kit

I'm sure I've seen vinyl wrap cut outs for various parts of the Tig interior on ebay from a Chinese seller. Would save you having to make your own cut out.
I have checked ETKA and there is no alternative glovebox latch for the Tig that I could see. It's a shame really as the Golf version did look good although not real brushed aluminium - just coated ABS.2011 Candy White Tiguan R Line 170 TDI DSG | Pan roof | Park assist & RVC | RNS 510 | MDI | LED's | 20" RS5 Wheels| Bi-xenons & AFS | Front & Rear footwell lights | Door warning & puddle lights | Mirror puddle lights | LED Tail lamps | Eibach Pro-Kit Springs

New mod coming for the Tig - should be arriving this week. Hopefully this one fits!!!!
It's a Hella smoked 3rd brake light - should be straight plug and play for the OEM part (I think the OEM part is also made by Hella).
If these work I'd consider organising a group buy for these as they also fit MkV Golf/Jetta.
Also anyone wanting a set of R8 coil packs please let me know as I have some landing early next week: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ecs-83808.htmlLast edited by tigger73; 19-10-2013, 08:23 AM.

Did you use any special tools to do the swap?

This was one of my first mods in 2010. No special tools needed. There is double sided tape around the trim, and 4 clips on the bottom, so be gentle. Best way to take it off is from the top first so the clips have more room to move. If you do use any tools, make sure they are plastic. I think I used a plastic ruler. I like it but the original red looks better on a black car, you will agree once you change it.MY10 Tiguan 125TSI /APR Stage 2
