I've looked at the Hella brake lights - though I'm not convinced with reversing the colours and having the silver around the outside - especially on a black car.



These are the other tail lights that I would consider but they are only available in LHD...



No need for a P3 gauge as I have an AutoPolar which does pretty much everything the P3 does and more (mirror dipping ).

Also looked at LED headlights but I've resisted the urge. Until I find something that is an improvement on the OEM part I'm not that interested. And realistically I wouldn't pay more than around $500 for a set, it would have to be RHD and not bi-xenon as I'm not going to put washers and levellers in. So basically I'm buggered!!!!

I've been looking for some options for upper/lower front grilles but nothing really jumps out. I'm not a fan of the ABT kit - their facelift kit looks good but the kit for the first gen with all the arch flares is a bit much for me. Plus it gets expensive having to paint the entire thing to match the car. Haven't priced it but would imagine that you wouldn't be left with much change from $5k if you were to run it through a crash shop.

So I think I'm pretty much at the end of the road.

Oh tigger! Don't worry if road ends. you may turn in to the Highway where you can find K04, Big brakes, WM Injection, Air suspension etc. Lol

By the way I am also interested about Golf R style LED tail lights .. But I think they would not fit Tiguans..

Still got to have an upgrade FMIC and a K04 in your future mate. Both will work beautifully on your DSG Tig and deliver you RS Q3 rivalling performance. Low 4s 0-100 and about 250kw/500NM .....

Yeah I know but if I go KO4 then I really ought to get a BBK at the same time (if you go fast you really need to be able to pull it all up).

I'll have to talk to the accountant about this one in terms of legth of time to keep the vehicle, $ for mods and then also what I do when I eventually come to sell.

The other thing is that I'd rather not have big turbo lag - my preference is that have something that is quick/responsive on the street rather than a track car. So I'm a little undecided at this point.

They're available in red or black but I'd probably go with the black and totally black out the back of my car.

I can't say I'm a fan of these Damien. They look obviously aftermarket and a bit ricer. Maybe they look better in the flesh...

(And yeah, the LHD aspect would be the fog/reverse.)

Agree but there's not a lot of options for the Tig other than going with the reversed Hellas.

The Hellas on my tig are also LHD, but the RHS has the cut-out so you can switch the fog over.
They actually look quite nice on my black Tig as i have the silver boot trim to match.

With the reverse Hella's, what stopping you opening them up and painting the chrome areas (which looks horrible IMO) to grey or black etc, to make them less ricer. The Golf R style ones look pretty woeful IMO too.

Surely someone else has done a similar thing with these Hella lights, perhaps not on a Tig, but another car so you can get the idea?

I think the Hella ones are just the stock tails with the red plastic removed from the surrounds area. I'm not sure if these can be opened up or if they are a sealed unit. I'll have to do some investigations into what can/can't be done here.

Cheap solution is to put some smoked tints over the top of the stock ones. Advantage is this is easily reversible but not sure if this is legal.

Agree that it's easy to stuff things up and have it look tacky which I'm trying to avoid.

OK OK after saying I had nothing more to mod on my car a couple of things went on in the last 24 hours...

Had a resonator fitted to the exhaust to quieten it down - unresonated it just way too noisy for around town. Still get all the DSG fart noises but pops are now no longer deafening.

I think anyone that heard my exhaust before will agree that it was a fraction loud.
