    • Low beams on during daylight

Hi guys. I have been struggling to find out how to set my low beams to stay active during daylight on my GTE. I don't want the DRL lights so I need the low beam to stay on at all times on my car. I have tried the following:

      09-Central Electronics > Adaptation-10

      (5)-Leuchte6ABL LC5-Lichtfunktion B 6
      Value: Daytime running lights
      Stock: Lichthupe generell

      (6)-Leuchte7ABL RB1-Lichtfunktion B 7
      Value: Daytime running lights
      Stock: Lichthupe generell

Since I don't know what "Lichthupe generell" does I replaced it with Daytime running lights. I did this during daylight to see the difference and it was working all fine. The issue happened the next day, when I checked I had no low beams, they were only working when it was dark. So I guess there is an issue with the dimming (I read "Lichthupe generell" had something to do with dimming).

I know I can control this from the switch, but I like to have mine in "Auto" position because the car is equipped with the high beam assistant.

Can anyone please help me with this?

      Thanks in advance

Drive: Hello. It seems odd to want to have the low beams continuously turned-on, but I have to admit, that my knowledge of the day-time environment in Oslo is very poor!

Anyhow, my suggestion is that you return the changes that you made back to the original settings ( see values below) and try the changes in my table below. Please note that there are changes required to channels (8 ) and (10) in the left and right lamps. Also note that I have not tested these changes - please provide feedback when (if) you try them.

        Cheers
        Don

        • Cheers Don! What is bugging me is the crappy light sensor which is oversensitive. It goes nuts at times. I can see that on the navigation screen that it switches back and forth between day and night mode. Also I gotta admit that I'm slightly tired of the e-Golf look as we have sooo many in Norway...

I have already made the changes and I'm looking forward to see how it works. In the meantime I came across the following setting:

          ( 8 )-Daytime running lights-Fahrlicht bei Tag,Daytime running lights

I'm not sure what kind of options I have on this one but maybe I can solve the puzzle with this one setting.

Thanks a lot for your help

Drive: Yes, changing the setting for ( 8 )-Daytime running lights-Fahrlicht bei Tag,Daytime running lights from "daytime running lights" to "low beam" will work, but it will disable the normal DRLs (i.e. this channel is either/or). I had assumed that you want to keep the normal DRLs illuminated AS WELL AS the low beams

            Don
PS: In respect of your "crappy light sensor", you could check the coding on the RLS/RLHS/RHFS (which is a slave module to the BCM). The pertinent Byte is hex0 (see picture below) - is your coding for Bits 3-5 hex00? You could also check the setting in the MENU for turn-on threshold

Yes I want to disable the DRLs totally and just use the low beam so I will assume this simple setting will work. Regarding the Light Activation Threshold, I need to check that. As you said there is an option in the MENU (Early-Medium-Late) so is this something in addition to that or are you basically toggling the same setting with this hex?

Example: If I set mine to Early in the MENU, and set this one to +80% earlier, does that mean really really early?

Drive: OK. My assumption (about you wanting both DRLs and low-beam operating together) was predicated on your first post where added DRLs to the low-beams -without removing the DRL settings from the 2 x Leutche sets. But if you just want to substitute the Low beams, then the simpler tweak is better!

As for your question about the RLS/RLHS/RLHS, the settings for Byte 0, Bits 3-5 are stand-alone and are not affected by the value in the MENU. The way I think about this facility is that settings in Bits3-5 create the reference threshold around which the MENU values operate. So, the absolute latest light threshold is Bits 3-5 set to Hex00 and the Menu value set at "late", and the absolute earliest light threshold is Bits 3-5 set to hex20 and the Menu value set at "early" (hope this makes sense)

Drive: thanks for the feedback. If I had HIDs on my mk7, I would try some alternative remedies, but since you have an alternative method, I'll leave it

                      • I played some more with the LED DRLs and have it all sorted now. Would be worth adding this to the VCDS Sticky.

If you want the DRL to dim when indicating, make sure:
(6)-Leuchte2SL VLB10-Dimmwert AB 2 and (6)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Dimmwert AB 3) is 100. 127 causes it to stay bright. There is no difference between 100 and 127 in light output.
Same for the CD Channel brightness. Default is 26, but I like mine at 100. Just don't use 127.

                        Then simply set:
                        (12)-Leuchte2SL VLB10-Lichtfunktion E 2 = Blinken links aktiv (beide Phasen)
                        (12)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Lichtfunktion E 3 = Blinken rechts aktiv (beide Phasen)
                        (14)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Dimmwert EF 3 = 26
                        (14)-Leuchte2SL VLB10-Dimmwert EF 2 = 26
                        (15)-Leuchte2SL VLB10-Dimming Direction EF 2 = minimize
                        (15)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Dimming Direction EF 3 = minimize

It titled "Curva Intensidad Cuadro Instrumentos 2" - page 30. I'd like to anglicise the tweak instructions and to include it in this thread and on my reference thread (in English)

From the stuff that you have posted, it appears to have some Japanese/Chinese characters imbedded in the pictures. Can you tell me who the author was, so that I can make an accurate attribution of the original writer in my post - please?

                              • Hi, DV52 and XaGiCo.
I originally posted this instructions for increasing instrument panel illumination in my Japanse "Minkara" SNS page as below.

After my post several members were arranged of my post how to increase instruments illumination by several different parameters.

I may help to translate this to English if you need. (But my English capability is limited...)

By the way STG17 security code has been changed from MY16 which friend of mine who has MY16 model can't change STG17 setting due to this issue. Dose some one find out new security code ?

XaGiCo your document seems excellent even I do not understand spanish language. May I introduce this document in my Japanese SNS page "Minkara" ?
                                Thank you.
