Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Ill see if I can get in this weekend and have a look around. Maybe the current loading mode shows the base value in comfort mode when the voltage value would be 0????? It could be the admap was read with the car ignition on and no voltage supplied to dampers????? (I don’t understand how an admap is read!)

Someone else must have explored this as an option????? I have searched and found no threads / info.

    • Tried this today, to try and dim the LED DRLs while the blinker is on
Address 09:5Q0 937 084 AJ recoded (ADP-(12)-Leuchte2SL VLB10-Lichtfunktion E 2) from not active to Blinken links aktiv (beide Phasen)
Address 09:5Q0 937 084 AJ recoded (ADP-(15)-Leuchte2SL VLB10-Dimming Direction EF 2) from maximize to minimize

Address 09:5Q0 937 084 AJ recoded (ADP-(12)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Lichtfunktion E 3) from not active to Blinken rechts aktiv (beide Phasen)
Address 09:5Q0 937 084 AJ recoded (ADP-(15)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Dimming Direction EF 3) from maximize to minimize

      And it works.
But I want to just dim the light, so I tried:
      Address 09:5Q0 937 084 AJ recoded (ADP-(14)-Leuchte2SL VLB10-Dimmwert EF 2) from 0 to 26
      Address 09:5Q0 937 084 AJ recoded (ADP-(14)-Leuchte3SL VRB21-Dimmwert EF 3) from 0 to 26

Which didn't work - the lights just stayed full bright. I also tried setting the direction to maximize, but it didn't change anything. What am I doing wrong here?

Bob: hi - you have an interesting way of thinking (which is a good thing)! I don't have the high-end headlight assemblies on my mk7, but my understanding is that the 2 x Leuchte-sets that you mention perform the following two functions on LED based fittings: DRL- on the AB alpha pairs and parking lights on the CD alpha pairs. By placing the new DRL "wink" function on the EF alpha pair, don't you get a conflict with the parkers? That is - doesn't the DRL wink still happen when the parkers are on (which it shouldn't)? I'll confirm later, but I suspect that a better arrangement might be to swap your settings for the CD and EF alpha pairs.

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

        • My understanding is that EF should have higher priority than CD and AB. Swapping them doesn't explain why it works when set to 0

I'm guessing, but I suspect that nothing will change because the adaptation channel 1)-Constant current loading mode-Constant current loading mode; activation is set to off . I suspect that none of the "constant current" channels will show anything but zero as long as this channel is not active. I also have no idea what forcing a constant current value into the individual suspension tubes will do - please provide feedback if you try different values (I'm interested from an a academic perspective)

Perhaps a better way to investigate (before changing adaption channels) is to use the "Advanced Measurement" facility in VCDS first. I'm not sure what parameters are available in this control module - but might be prudent to "rummage-around" in this part of VCDS before modifying adaptation channel values

            Cheers

PS: As I said, I hope that you don't need a security code!
Had a little look around. You are correct nothing seems to change when i change the modes with the car running and re read the module.

The options under the loading mode are as follows:

Driving mode i assume relates to the switch-able mode in the car. How do i get the the values related to the subset of information??? Comfort, Normal Race etc???? Why would it be off and not driving mode??????

            Ill rummage around further!

Hi bobcrusader, what are the values for AB and CD channels? I remember long time back you mentioned both of them were set to 127 in dimmwert and also I noticed when the AB is 127 it did not blink regardless where I kept blink code, don't know why. Please check the full sets for 2SL and 3SL

Forgive my ignorance, I believe you wanted to dim the DRL U LED outer when the blinker is ON.

                    • Correct 127 all around at first. I did drop the CD to 80, as it was very bright at night. Let me drop AB down to 100 and see if it works.
