I have thought further about your view and alas, I still can't accept your explanation of the purpose for the "X" and "Y" values in these dimming_curves. But that's OK - both your tweak and mine (using the phototransistor channels) work - so that's all that's necessary. I hope that we can both agree to disagree!

As you can see, I have included your tweak instructions in a previous post. Hopefully I have done justice to your original work.

    Hi,Don.
Thank you for your your reply and sorry for my explanation did not satisfied you yet.
As I mentioned last msg, my observation may not correct to refrect actual phenomenon of illumination panel control logic, but many friends of "Minkara SNS" folks applied this adjustment. They satisfied day time meter illumination brightness of this approach. Actually they tweak the parameter which they like.

Anyway I appreciate you to try to understand my input and post my approach too.
I will check this website that has many good information.

    regards,

    • I have some strange sound from my speakers when I enter the car. The sound is coming regardless of ignition on/off. Sounds like an identification "whoosh" which lasts for just a second but it's bothering me. This happened after installing a sound system. Is there anywhere in VCDS I can modify the sound system settings? I have been reading on the topic for a MK6 and there you have description and help in the long coding but not for MK7... Has anyone experienced this and any suggests for a fix?

      Thanks all

      • I have this setting in 5F: "Sporadic ring break detection,Visual". On 2015 Golf MK7 this is set to "none". Does anyone know what it does?

Drive: Hello - how about sending down some of your nice cold weather!!!

OK - in regards to your question, I don't specifically know the answer (perhaps someone else here has the answer), but I've only seen the settings "Visual" on this adaptation channel on NAR vehicles for MIB1 units. RoW models appear to have the "none" setting as a factory default

But ALL of the MIBII units that I have seen (regardless of country - Europe, Australia, USA) have the "Visual" setting from the factory.

So my guess is that it has something to do with the CAR NET facility which NAR models got in the MIBI units and that is universally available (I believe) in the MIBII units. As you may be aware, CARNET enabled infotainment systems needed to have the "Premium" mobile telephone interface fitted - so there is a rough-logic to my guess (I guess!)

Why not try setting it and let us know if you make any discoveries?

          Don

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

          • Thanks for your answer Don! I'm for sure willing to trade the cold for some higher temperatures. Luckily the spring is around the corner.

I tried to set it to "none", and hopefully this will fix the issue I had with some strange sound from the speakers. It was happening sporadically so it makes sense if this setting solves it. So far haven't heard anything so that's promising...

Another question: Has anyone been able to enable developer mode for MIB2 with VCDS? When I try to modify the "developer mode"-setting in 5F I get 'out of range' error...

I would also like to know what "Audio_Managment_Soundset_Menu" does? Default: OFF.

            • Is there a wiki/post/document containing all tweaks so I don't have to read through 750 posts?

                    • GTE/E-Golf graphic instead of default:

                      Module 5F
                      Long Coding
                      Byte 2, value 70 instead of 00.

I will mess some more with this byte. Previously, only byte 18 seemed to influence the specific type of car (GTI or standard).

                        Hi zloybob,
I've been breaking my brain on this 0388 firmware wlan thing... Would it help if we compared our long coding and adaption channels to see where our differences are? I'm sure it's an easy fix.

Hey Chillout, e-manager and Hybrid disappears from the bottom menu after the modification?

From what I've read it appears that some markets require either activation with a dealer tool or VCD Pro.
