If you get Stage 1 that plan will go out the window

Why not look for some 2nd hand rims & tyres - there are some great bargains out there - esp in 18".
I'm weighing up my options. I'm also not pushing my car as much until i get it sorted which is killing me!

other option is to keep cost low and just replace the rear two tyres and move them to the front so that i can get nice new front tyres.

Although the thought of the MKV R32 rims spray painted in gunmetal grey on a MKVI R does appeal to me

I DO THIS TOO! The problem with that is once you've turned the ignition off the steering wheel buttons don't work? What's with that??

On another topic, from what I've read everyone seems to reckon that a Stage 1 tune is a must on the R?

being a second hand car, there are a couple of things I need to spend money on to get it to where I'm fully satisfied with it, including the following:

    1. New plates
    2. Opti-coat
    3. Stage 1 tune
    4. New tyres (and rims too)

Opti-coat has already been booked, but I only have budget for either a tune or new tyres next.

I'm leaning towards new tyres just because the rear left has a nail in it and it can't be repaired because of bubbles in the sidewall (previous owner was running 25psi all round WTF??!?!)

    Thoughts anyone?

+1 for the on/off OCD, my wife even makes sure she leaves it bolt upright so I don't complain.

I suggest the same can be done for an XR6 T but you can only give him a 20 M start

Maybe I should contribute with my R observation:

When you're at a set of lights and a Camry pulls up next to you and looks like he's about to take off the moment the light turns green so that he can cut you off a merging lane?

It's ok to let him have a 50m advantage before you cane it and zip past him. A quick thumbs up to him out the window as well just to make sure he gets the point.

    Hi mate

it was the most logical investment for me because i wanted:
    1. Something fast
    2. Quality build inside and out
    3. Fit two growing kids
    4. Good for daily AND spirited driving
    5. Came in a Rising Blue colour (as I'm sure you'll agree with me)

Nothing else came close to the R, apart from a GTI???
