Will you look at the S3 Candyman? Price gap to R has been dramatically reduced and arguably a better looking prestige car IMO

We also change our cars regularly, closer to 3 years though. I had an option all lined up but SF knows what happened to that (let us just say that bosses with nice cars don't appreciate them).

I then seriously had the AMG hatch in the scopes but after driving one (yes, was lucky enough to do just that OS very recently), I'm now looking back at VW yet again as much as I wanted to move on.

Despite all the "issues" they have, VW deliver exactly what I want in a vehicle with the R.

I really hate myself for saying that !

Fair enough. Nice to have a new one so regularly.

I know you are a fan of your tune but there was a time when you said you wouldn't get it done either (yes I've read this WHOLE thread)

Yep agree entirely with your position, figured if you had read my posts you would appreciate the process. Do what you are comfortable with but the tune did smooth out the power delivery and gear changes.

But you did make the right choice

Far out! As an STi owner, my respect level for the Golf just increased even more! Such nice cars

There was. Drove all the hot hatches and decided to preorder the VII GTI. Then realised I hadn't driven all the hot hatches (had been in a specific price range). Drove the R and the rest is history.
