I 've got a Rev A unit and have ungraded to 3810 a while ago.When on the map the arrow indicating the position of the car is about 10 metres behind where the car actually is. Is there a way to correct this?

That's pretty normal. It is not predictive, it is only reporting your calculated position.

Drive slower and let it catch up. LOL

It was more accurate on prevoous firmware. Would it be worhtwhile going to 4020?

Nope they are all as bad as each other My 4120 and all the older ones say "Turn here" at least 40 metres before the actual corner.

Hi! I use a CD to erase maps from the maps partition labelled 2720_mpf ... all it seems to do is call a script in the firmware update interface hdTermFormat("/hdb2",2)) ... which I presume means format partition 2 on hdb2 ... just checking if this is still valid for the newer OEM SSD versions of the RNS 510??

I read the SSD versions have a different partitioning scheme and don't want to brick the thing by erasing the wrong partition

(This is to install older version of maps...)

Maps are still on partition 2 on newer 3 partition systems. Why do you want to just erase the partition?

Thanks for the advice! On my PC in the map disc I edit the original POI.DB3 file using free POIinspector to add custom POI and then burn this custom map disk ... but the RNS510 won't load maps that aren't a newer version ... so I erase the maps first, then load the maps again (this time with the custom POI.DB3 file)

If you get an older version it will revert to that but wont load the same version you have. EG if you have V6 load V5 and then you can go up to V6,7or 8

All you need to do is increment the map version number by one in Poinspect0r eg 8035 to 8036. Then the rns sees it as a new version and will overwrite the existing maps.

Hi I did the firmware update on a H61 H LED version - first time I installed the maps straight after the firmware: this resulted in the system crashing anytime the maps were accessed. The trick was: install firmware, wait for GPS to get a location first (10-20 miuntes - you can check on the GPS status screen you get when pressing the maps button twice), only then insert maps CD for download. Cheers!

Hi All,

Need some help.

Tried updating firmware on my RNS510 to v4120 but it failed about 51% of way through. Now have no radio etc. Looking for help on getting another copy/or loading of the 4120 software so I can finish the update.
Have rebooted but requires the installation to complete before I can get back to normal use.
