Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Glad you did. Def coilovers to dial in the best drop you can to finish the look.

Great to see this look here in Aus.

    • Changed my gear oil to Redline MTL today. Feels slightly better than original after a short drive around the block, but I'll reserve my judgment for another couple of hundred K's to let it wick in everywhere.

I'm stoked with the look... They look a tad high in the pic, but at this stage I love the stance, and the little bit of poke I have...
Any rubbing issues so far? I wanted to go 225 wide but read that 215 is the widest you can go on a Polo before running into issues.

        • Depends on offset and drop.

          • No rubbing so far... I'm not too low though. I'm happy with the height for the meantime.

              • Finally got the front vw splitter/lower lip, wheel arch flares and JE design eyelids painted and fitted today. Pics to come (once my brother gives me back my camera). Now looks so much and more aggresive and nearer to it bigger brother brother the golf gti.

Haha, once I get some decent pics you will see why I'm happy with the height. The guards are filled. I would drop it 5mm max if I was to drop it.
As it stands, the Cupra lip is in danger of getting torn off!!

It means now that I have a set of 17x7 wheels that I want to get rid of. I will be fixing them up before sale though.

Chuck - try Tim / Dub Addiction for the lip. He can email you an install guide for the Polos too if you're not sure about just pulling the bumper off by yourself.

Now I can Clean the brakes without taking the wheels off the car!!
lol no sorry mate- i didnt mean that the wheel gap was huge- i meant the wheels!

they look good for sure, its just that im ultra conservative (15/16 inch for me).

first pog in aus with porsche twists, you reckon?

I think so. They aren't genuine Porsche items, but I didn't want to run adaptors.

As it stands, I think they are the perfect proportions for any wheel on the Polo. Definitely if you are going to go 8 inches wide, get a +35 offset. These fill the guards out completely.

                        • Any idea what they weigh?

What tyres did you go for in the end?

                          Comment

                          • Unsure of the weight, but they aren't too bad. The tyres are 225/35 18 Falken FK475s (if I remember correctly). They are very grippy, and way better than the previous Maxxis MZ-A1's I had. Then again, almost anything would be!!

Autolock turned on and unlock when key is removed. Unlocking all doors by remote and while i was there i carried out basic setting on climate control because i can
