Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

CAMS licences are issued by CAMS-you have to be a CAMS car club member, and the forms go through CAMS in Vic.
Having said that, you generally don't need a CAMS licence for a Drive Day,only for Supersrints and such.

Finally had all my new stereo gear installed. Kenwood double din deck, Front Boston splits powered by a 20 yr old sony 2x55W RMS Amp, 12" MTX t-5500 300W RMS Sub in a sealed enclosure in the boot powered by a JL Audio Slash V2 500W RMS Mono Amp. Pumps some serious bass. Pretty happy with the outcome overall. Happy to have some bass back in my life. lolAPR V2 Tuned, APR Dogbone mount, APR R1 DV, K&N Panel Filter, SEAT Intake, Forge TIP & FSB, Bilstein & H&R, Whiteline RSB, Full Milltek 2.5" exhaust

I forget the exact figures but the Kenwood 2-din deck was about $440. Its not a screen though but it's Kenwood's best conventional style 2-din deck that keeps the 'factory look'. The MTX T-5512 04 sub I bought about almost 4 years ago pre-polo days and that was around $300 at the time. The JL Slash V2 500W RMS Mono amp is new and cost a little over $600. A bit more expensive than its competitors but it offers very low distortion high power output. It also has some fancy power management that keeps a constant 500RMS output over a broad range of power inputs - 10V-14.4V and speaker loads of 4 Ohms down to 1.5 Ohms. Turn it up and it doesn't cause the lights to dim at all, no capacitor needed.
So all that cost me $500 to install which was an awesome price compared to the other quotes I got. The guy who did it reckons in 10 yrs it was the hardest car he's installed ever! He did say though that the car appears to be solidly made and that the car is really well dampened in the doors and panels. We only used a small amount of dynamat around the front doors and that was it. The boot is solid as and not even the number plate rattles. I had 2 other quotes that were $750-$800 just to install the deck and sub/amp!! So I am guessing they both new how diffcult the job was going to be.
Anyways I'll take some pics today. Its a nice a neat install.
