Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well, my back is stuffed. No factory seats suit me. I cant drive it for more than 40 mins without needing to get out and have a break. Also, i'm only paying a little over $3k. So not 'too' bad.

I bought the Polo because I had the cash, no loan required. The Golf was the high side of $40k. I couldn't justify it. Horses for courses. Nothing better than a hot hatch!

The best place to get the pipe work done is Plazmaman. I have only heard good things about his work and I have personally seen a few jobs he has done for some mates of mine.
He has a mandrel pipe bender and dosent do multiple welds to chage direction of the pipe. If I had a choice I would go to him over anyone else in the country.

You have to give him a call cause its by appointment only. However, I have since heard that they dont do custom work anymore. You could always check with them on that. If they dont, you can ask them to recommend someone else.

              • Wasn't cheap. It cost $1055 all up(that's including the odyssey battery - old battery didn't leave any room). I don't think induction noise is that much louder than standard, but it does sound better.

Why is it you're buying factory RS4 seats then?

                  Comment

                  • Factory RS4 seats are actually a re-badged Recaro Sportster CS.

You'll find with time and kilometers you'll start to hear more induction noise as the ECU discovers that it can breathe more freely. I know when I got mine, I was a bit meh and then all of a sudden one day on the highway I put my foot down in 6th and couldn't believe the difference in sound.
I'm really interested in seeing how those Recaros go fitting in the little Polo. Gonna be not much room between the seats me thinks and good luck getting anyone in the back. As long as they fit though who cares. Fantastic seats.

Exactly. The last set of Recaro's I had were awesome. Pain-free driving at last. This should make for three sets at home now
