Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Just got a custom 3" downpipe fitted (thanks to Pete from Newcastle Mufflers). Also got Derrick from European Autotech ( who also did my BMC CDA conversion) to put on the Forge TIP and Forge DV and gave it a APR reflash V2.

Wow all I can say is that the car is now sooooo much more fun to drive. If it wasn't a beast before, it is bloody well one now. The induction noise when it is on full song is just sweet music to the ears and I've got the same tune on repeat everytime when I drive.

I was worried about V2 with some saying power tends to drop off in the top end. But so far I haven't found this to be true.
sigpicAPR'ed V2, 18", BMC CDA. 3" Custom Downpipe, Forge TIP/Diverter Valve. Coming soon: getting my FMIC fitted, KO4!!

    • Just got back from 300+kms sunday drive through winding roads with my old mates. Managed to keep mildly mod Evo3 heart inside Satria GTi honest on straightaway and corners. Many of them including me were surprised cos the Satria GTi driver isn't really doing a walk in the park

Never have such adrenalin push like this for quite sometime... ah hell tomorrow is MONDAY

PS: This is never a street racing thing, drive was done on lonely winding roads with very few cars around.

Who did the work Dave? How much? How extensive?

My poor baby is is in desperate need of some love but alas I can't really be bothered spending the time as I am obsessive.

A place down Oxley road (near Corinda) called 'Dolphin Hand Wash'. Prices seem to range from $20 for a splash'n'dash wash thru to about $250 for the full works (wax etc.).

Being of Scottish decent ... ... I paid a lot closer to the bottom end of the range ($36:00) for a wash, polish, vacuum, tire and under-guard blacking and a rim polish ... which I thought was not a bad price and it means most of the hard work is done when it comes to me doing a final wax with Zymol. Oh ... they also did scratch removal and paint-trade (someone parked nextdoor to me in a blue car and opened their door into my passenger door ) removal ... did it well too.

                    • I just adjusted the position of the strike plate. I moved it inwards about 3mm, now the door is flush with the back panel - where it should have been in the first place.

You need a "star pattern" type driver to loosen and tighten them. My torx bit (T40) fitted it, although it has more teeth than torx ... think it may be a 'triple square' type ?? I could still loosen and tighten without problems.
