After my 1st service, believed nothing to be done, no oil change nothing, just a check + wash, dealer cant replicate the crunch in gear box, so no action to be done. Door hinge is lubricated heavily (thats what he said), the sound gone but those lubircant are everywhere around the door now...
Day after the service is a hot day (saw 42.5C at the in car temp display), and my gear box crunch even at 3500rpm...

Drive under 2500rpm, everything is fine....
wtf...
Got a gti and keep revs under 2500?
did you quote the 35A7 recall on Polo GTI gearboxes? due to it being a VW announced recall they HAVE to fix the gearbox crunch. by the sounds of the works they have done, they obviously couldn't give a sh*t, i'd be looking for new dealer if i were you (if there is another nearby).

Didnt quote the recall quote, i mentioned to them i am aware that there is recall on the gear box, but as he said he cant replicate it, then what can i do?
It only happens when the weather is hot or after a long drive in traffic (1 and a half hr)...
Just wondering how much is a new gear box if i blow this one up after the warranty...
Planning to get another car before warranty expired! Still got 2 and a half year time to save up...

They should of at least changed the the oil... hope it was a free service... take it somewhere else or at least change the oil yourself.

stuff that, find the 35A7 recall on the internet, print it off, and take it in with you demanding what you are entitled to. they do not have to replace the whole gearbox, just drain the synthetic oil out and replace it with mineral oil.
don't let them get away with that rubbish, they are obviously just lazy....it also shows with how your service was carried out.

I didn't mean the gear box oil I meant a normal oil change specially for the first 7500km.
But yeah if your gear box actually fell under the recall they should be doing whats needed like Rhys said they are just being lazy.

we got our polo gearbox oil changed yesterday... complained to the dealership that it was crunching into 2nd gear. They were like "oh yeah there is a recall on them to change the oil".
so far so good... it hasn't done it again.

Booked mine in for gearbox oil change as per recall. Have not had any dramas with crunching yet, but as my vin nr is on the recall list best to head off any problems further down the track. Bloody dealer wants it all day. I didn't think it was such a big job....
Took the wheels off and swapped them left to right to fix the radial pull issue... figured I'd also give the wheel arches a proper clean as well as behind the rims.
Oh, and the pulling isn't too bad now. Still there though. In the process of getting them replaced.

ours had it for about 3 hours. they made a big deal about how it had to be changed at the right temperature etc....

Yeah, they did mention something along those lines, and also about having to flush and then refill and road test....hope they don't discover my little APR secret....
