Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

        • Ok so spoke to Lewis from UR Australia and he is keen to get a group buy happening. I will work out cheaper if we have a contact person in each state he can ship the gear to, then people pick their gear up from there. I'm happy to cover the QLD people. He needs numbers and kinds of braces to figure out pricing then he will email the quote.

          So if you can just list the braces you're interested in and I will take it from there. So they offer;

          Upper strut brace
          Rear strut brace
          Lower front member brace
          Front sway bar
          Middle lower member brace
          Rear lower member brace
          Rear sway bar
          Rear upper strut brace

All seen here Volkswagen Polo Mark 4 1.8 Turbo Aftermarket rear sway bar,Stabilizer bars, anti roll bar, front sway bar, anti sway bar, replace sway bar,Aftermarket strut bar, tower brace, strut tower bars, lower arm bar, rear strut bar,Fender Bar,front lower braces, cus

You can put me down for a upper strut brace. What other braces would make a significant difference to handling?

            • Managed to snap one side of the driveline off at the CV joint this morning... The Polo has survived serious track sessions, motorkhanas, tarmac rallies and hillclimbs, but the driveline met its demise pulling out from a side road into traffic. Go figure.

Apparently having an LSD means that it's possible to drive for a short distance as a 1WD... you learn something new every day.

We probably should start a new thread for this group buy

What sort do you have and how did you know which ring gear size you had before ordering the diff? That's the biggie holding me back

The diff is a Quiafe TBD. I didn't order it myself - the guys at CVWC took care of that - but it was no doubt easier to identify the correct ring gear size as they had pulled the gearbox out already to sort out the 1-2 crunching issue that plagues some Polo GTIs.

                            • $340 in all only took me about 20 mins to figure out what the hell i was doing and to change them over. only 2 were busted but i dont have a vag com and didnt know which 2. so i figured changeing all 4 would be the best deal anyways. if this happens again i might invest in getting the spacers and buying 2.0t coil packs instead.

                              • Mike, was this done under recall? as the coils had a recall campaign on it.
