G'day all
Looks like I have missed out on procuring a mfsw with paddles to suit my tdi dsg Tig.It appears all the Euro suppliers have all dried up.Even their websites are not active anymore.Shud have gone ahead with a couple of Irish guys offer of a wheel, but i was waiting on a reply from bricarauto[considerably cheaper than the Irish setup] but now it appears bricarauto have gone off the radar and the Irish guys have sold all their stock with little chance of anything being available in the near future.Bummer!
Phil.

I bought a Mk6 wheel for my R36 from here. That's the exact link to the auction I bought it from. Took a week or so to arrive if I remember rightly and no problems with posting the airbag via air mail.
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for the Tiguan as well. I would get one for our Tiguan too, but the wife has said no screwing around with her car... it's hers now that I have the R36... even though she still hasn't got her license yet!

Thanks for that link mate but unfortunately they have also stated that the wheels are no longer available. It finished on the 06th march or thereabouts.
Thanks again for your suggestion

Thanks mate for that link.Unfortunately this exercise has now mounted up to about $1000 aud, buying from 2 different suppliers[wheel and airbag separately]plus the freight charges.I shall have to have a good think about this and whether it's worth the expense. It's a retrofit I really wanted to do,but at the mo. it seems a bit of a luxury.
Thanks everyone for the various links and your help

I had the opportunity to buy from Age Styling when they had stock for 469 pounds shipped to Aust but I was waiting to hear back from Bricarauto on the shipping issue. Bricar were much cheaper but they disappeared for awhile and when they finally did resurface I was told that they can't ship with airbag.
I'm just glad that I found a random ebay seller that had a 2nd hand wheel for sale. If you do find one with an airbag and the seller is willing to ship it to Aust, take it immediately!

Apologies. I got a completely different result when I followed that link from my eBay summary page last night. This morning I can see that it has ended.
Hopefully it's just a matter of waiting for them to become available again.
I have the mk5 wheel from my R36, which has DSG paddles if anyone is interested.
Thanks for the quick reply. Does this involve air bag works etc? Also where do I buy such a beast?
There's not much to changing the wheel to be honest.
- Disconnect battery and ground yourself by grabbing something earthed on the car chassis.
- Rotate 90 degrees left, undo airbag clip at rear
- rotate to the right 90 degrees and undo the second airbag clip
- Remove airbag gently, disconnecting trigger cable along the way
- Place airbag in safe place
- Remove the MFSW connector (position varies by wheel apparently, mine was at the bottom)
- Undo the 12 point bolt at centre of wheel (an appropriate sized torx bit will do the trick in a pinch)
- Slide wheel off
Reverse steps with the new wheel. I've read that the bolt should only be used a maximum of 5 times before being replaced. I think the service manual states to renew each time the wheel comes off. You may want to check that if you have access to Elsa or someone you know does.
I bought my wheel from those guys and there were no problems with shipping. They have a couple of different options for stitch colouring if you look at the rest of their items.
I'm happy to assist for those in Melbourne, and have a VAGCOM cable if any coding is required.
