To be honest I thought they were the same people (had the same photo). They never responded to my emails either - might be a problem with their IT setup.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thinking of retrofitting my Jetta with a paddle shifter wheel. Looking at the eBay seller from Ireland. Anyone know if that will fit in an MY12 Jetta? I'm not very technical in this but is there a "one size fit all system" when it comes to steering wheels?MY12 147TSI Jetta DSG | CW | Sports Pack | Sunroof | Driver Electric Seat | RCD510 | Formula 1 Tint | MFSW Paddle Shifters

Took this pic from "phaeton's trip to the dealer" edition. Exactly same as mine!
Emailed the eBay guy (from Ireland) and he said he's out of stock for the DSG. I asked if it'll fit but he didn't answer that question. Best price is AU$600 including shipping, it's listed on ebay for AU$610 + $80 shipping.
He's definitely legit yeah?MY12 147TSI Jetta DSG | CW | Sports Pack | Sunroof | Driver Electric Seat | RCD510 | Formula 1 Tint | MFSW Paddle Shifters

If you look through this thread I think you'll find you have the same wheel that I started off with (although the colour looks a tad different). You should be fine.

Might get it from these guys:
Bricarauto
Shipping is another 85 Euro, I think. So all up, 405 Euro = $520 (xe.com)
Cheapest thus far..MY12 147TSI Jetta DSG | CW | Sports Pack | Sunroof | Driver Electric Seat | RCD510 | Formula 1 Tint | MFSW Paddle Shifters

Brand new Tiguan owner. Took delivery 4 weeks ago of a new 103TDI with DSG auto. The wheel came with paddles!! Tried them and no joy so the computer obviously doesn't know about them, but with the lights on the + and - symbols are illuminated, so they have power.
Dealer is telling me that VW technical have advised them that the paddles CANNOT be activated, and they have ordered a new wheel. I'm tempted to hang on to what I've got and investigate further.
Any comments?
Regards
Tim

If you've got access to to VCDS you could always check to see if it is coded correctly

hhmm that's a strange one.. Must have been a mixed up.
Has it got an emblem/badge at the bottom of the wheel, like GTI/GTD/GLI/R?
If I were you, i'd hang on to them! There have been quite a few people looking high and low for them, and if you do find one, they're not cheap either!
Get someone from the forum to help you with some coding to enable the shifters. If it's DSG, I'm sure it can be done via VAGCOM.MY12 147TSI Jetta DSG | CW | Sports Pack | Sunroof | Driver Electric Seat | RCD510 | Formula 1 Tint | MFSW Paddle Shifters

There's no badge on the bottom of the wheel, just a hole. Suspect it was destined for another market (service guy suggested the American market, which would have left some US VW dealer very confused!).
The only concern I have with trying to get it re-coded is the effect that might have on the warranty, but might be worth keeping it until the warranty expires and then fiddling with it.

I think it's a European one that was mistakenly added to yours or there was some other problem preventing them from using the normal one.
I've seen a few 'Highline' Golf's in the UK with that wheel.
