How are you actually performing a launch? Is there a launch control mode that I haven’t found?

yes there is. 4000rpm launch is programmed with stage 1,2,3 or other tune.

Because a local guy was selling this and a MK7.5 R exhaust

And now I have 2 exhausts so if anyone local is looking for one hit me up!

              Standard launch is 3,500rpm?

                  • Just had car serviced today at 37,000km

Haldex filter wasn’t in such great condition:

                    • Wow that's dirty after only 37,000km!!! Good job you did the service early. I have read that this is an issue on MQB platform cars and apparently that little filter isn't listed as a service item....scary.

No filter was clogged up at 37,000km.

                          • It’s common for these haldex units. It’s bits of clutch material.

These fail ‘open’ so if something goes wrong from oil starvation, your car will become a 2wd.

It sucks that vw don’t take this part of the car the car seriously. If you want longevity, either replace the filter, or have the funk scraped off the current one every 2 years.

Hard launches, sand driving, towing and peak hour driving causing the most issues.

A highway cruiser will likely be fine with 3-4yr servicing.

It’s crap (technical term) from running in and happens to some cars more than others. My workshop said some MQB cars are worse than others and it’s a bit of a lottery. Once it’s been cleaned out and fresh oil it tends to be pretty good so based on my experience it’s probably something that should be dumped/changed on your first service (10-15,000km) and revert to standard service intervals after getting rid of the run in debris.

I drive my cars “normally” most of the time with the occasional squirt if the time/opportunity presents (merging onto freeway/etc). I’m certainly not booting the car off the line at every traffic light. Unless I change them early I’ll probably get 45-50,000km from my original set of tyres if it’s any indication of my driving style.

Because I’m running a higher output tune I do shorten my service intervals/ run intermediate oil changes just to be nice. VW actually recommends this in the manual anyway if you’re doing higher load work like towing, etc so I base my servicing on “severe” conditions. Probably is over-servicing to some degree but this is a case for earlier service intervals.

                              • I haven’t looked I to the ‘how’ to access the haldex filter. Is it diy-able? I’d like to clean mine- without paying dealer charges.
