  • For the software geeks I have a request to get the GPS or camera detected speed limit which displays in the infotainment navigation screen to display in the active display navigation screen. Would be a nice addition particularly in the R

      You mean traffic sign recognition? Do you have Lane Assist? Then it is possible

      • I have speed limit display in my navigation screen. Standard Mk7 R, no camera.
        I think the speed limit detail might be coming from the maps database ?
        Yes, it seems accurate and reliable, and very useful.
        Current : 2017 Mk7 Golf R (most options) || 2012 Golf Mk6 TDi (few options)

          I went to code it on the weekend using OBDeleven on the 7.5 but I couldn't find "channel (63) vehicle function list BAP traffic_sign_recognition_0x21" in Control Unit 5f. Has that changed between the 7 and 7.5 Golf?

            Rooboy: What's the value of the code-string on your hex5F module - in particular Byte 24, Bit 6?. The software switch to enable Traffic Sign Display (which VW calls VZA) is on this Byte/Bit. Here's the OBD11 screen:

            Note: the screen-shot is from a mk7, not mk7.5

            Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

              It should be there in adaptions. Did you try the search box? I don't use OBD11 so i don't know if there is a searchbox but i've coded Traffic sign on multiple 7.5 so i know it is possible.

                Yes I have lane assist, I have an OBD11 will check if there's any info there. There's no mention in the active display setup for speed sign activation.

                  Thanks Rainesh. I used the search box and also scrolled through the adaptations for 5f. So it's a bit odd for me. I'll have another look tonight.

                  • I'm indeed a novice with OBD11 but I am looking to buy one for myself. Can anyone recommend a good unit that has an ios app not android. Sorry if there are recommendations on other threads that I haven't found. If someone could point me to the right thread or in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

                      iant333: how about VCDS- one of the "HEX" series products if you have a new-ish car. VCDS uses a MS-Windows platform, but I'm aware that some folk use Bootccamp as the intervening platform. I'm sorry that I can't help further - I stopped buying Apple products when Mr Jobs restricted connectivity to his devices. IMO, the real genius @ Apple was the other Steve (i.e. the Steve that actually designed stuff)

                      Of course, if you chose a HEX-NET, then you could use VCDS -mobile because this doesn't require anything on your IOS device besides a browser,

                        Just to clarify I'm after the speed sign displaying on the map screen in active display like the speed sign in the head unit map display. Not on the drive assist screen in active display.

                          I know what you mean. That is traffic sign recognition

                            AFAIK the OBDEleven app is for Android only. If you're still using IOS, you should consider upgrading to Android.

                              or you could just buy a cheap android tablet for OBDEleven duties.
