Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

The best price i have been quoted so far is $53,670 (Drive away), includes the following:
-18 Inch Alloy Wheels (Detroit)
-Adaptive Damping Control
-Leather Upholstery
-Metallic Paint
-Power Sunroof
-Premium Sound System
-Xenon Headlights
-MDI
-Full tank of fuel
-Dealer delivery
-Tinted Windows
Can anyone please comment on the pricing? Is it a good price with the options above?
Would appreciate any suggestion!
Cheers,
(Metallic paint, Xenons, 18s are all standard on the R).
Then at resale time, you'll have an R not a GTI worth $9.5K less.
Im only suggesting it cause you are going all out on a GTI, you really might as well get an R.
A DSG R with;
-ACC
-Leather
-Dynaudio
-Sunroof
-MDI
Could be had for $58K. Then you can be safer in the wet and have the nicer car. Win win.
The full tank of is petrol is normally included everywhere for all types of car. The tints cost about $200 so do it elsewhere if its not negotiated that way.
Best advice I can give you.

01mKIV,
I test drove Gti & RS 250. Two different cars!
In my opinion, RS 250 is a complete sports car, very powerful, fast, amazing pick up but small and interior is not very nice!
On the other hand, Gti is a great everyday car. It has less power compared to RS250, goes really well, handles well etc etc...
If i were you i would go for either gti or R. (Probably R)
Depends on what you want and your requirements and ofcourse pocket!

thanks Schan, but a couple of my friends have owned rs 182 clios, with a surprisingly low amount of rattles and rather nice interiors.
I'm yet to test drive the RS250.
I have read reviews on the gti that say it's dull & understeery, and when i drove it felt less involving and more dull than my mkIV, but the build quality is on par with my mkIV and has much power with which to keep up with knobs in M3sLast edited by 01mKIV; 17-04-2011, 08:15 PM.

It all depends what a person value's mate. Your comment may apply to you but not everyone else.
In my world -- Have ordered a fully decked out GTI (see my spec on my signature). An R will only reduce the 10k increase by approximately 3k by removing Xenons, 18's, Dark Tints. The total cost will then bump you up over luxury car tax which will then cancels out the 3k.
What do i value over the R - Bigger boot, GTI Badge, Jacky cloth and red stitching (coolest interior), Quicker and more flexible around city streets. Less fuel consumption meaning overall lower running costs.
And the GTI is safe in the wet... nice try though : )
Hey the R is cool... don't get me wrong. Was sitting behind one last night. Its not for everyone though.

I need the car to write off tax... I wanted an R, but couldn't wait that long into the next FY, plus the LCT implications of the higher price means the GTI is the car I can fully write down (when including the options I want!).

Hey Guys and Girls,
One very happy Vdub owner
Ordered and placed deposit on Candy White MkVI Golf GTI Adidas on Sunday 10th April 2011. Picked up car from dealer on Saturday 16th April 2011. Purchased from Paul Wakeling Motors in Campbelltown. Excellent, quick service, they gave me a great deal for a very sought after GTI. I believe there are only a very small number of GTi Adidas left in NSW (most of them RED). I got a good trade on my Peugeot 206 GTI 180. The Golf is everything I imagined and more. Very happyI am sooo happy that I could not get out of the car the enitire weekend. Picked up on Saturday and drove out of dealership at 12pm with 26kms, parked car in the garage last night with 400kms on it...!! Brings a smile to your face every time you plant your foot in sports mode!
