Picked up my Golf R yesterday afternoon. Beautiful car to drive (so much nicer than my previous car - a 02 model Nissan 200sx).

Within 30mins of arriving home, I had removed all dealership and VW parafanalia (warranty stickers/fuel consumption stickers etc) and fitted new Perspex Numberplate covers. Then off for a night cruise with the my gf.

Up at 6.30am this morning (all excited like a kid) and by 8am I had fitted my APR Carbonio intake and O-rest dead pedal cover.

Only done 140km now and have already cleaned the wheels twice.....damn these European brake pads are dreadful for dust. New Remsa pads to be fitted this week will help fix that problem hopefully....

Hey Dubbers, brand newbie with 1st post. I ordered my R in late December and hopefully will be picking it up in about 3 weeks!!

So hopefully that will make it a 4 1/2 month wait which is pretty good from what I have been reading. I've been glued to this forum to get me through the wait. There have been days where I've had to go sit in one at the dealers to quench my R thirst.

Here's what I'm planning to add so far:

- Ventureshield and/or opti-coat
- Stage 1
- Tinted front to match vw rear tint
- Laken brackets and covers

Cant wait!!

Hey alexkid, which part of melbourne are you? Well you you seem to be at the back end of your wait now. Hopefully the time passes quick for you. My build week is floating around week 20, if eta's come true then I'm at least 12 weeks away from delivery. Here's hoping!

Hey Rob_R, I'm in North Melbs. Yea it's getting pretty close now, just saw the boat pulling out of Fremantle harbour on its way to Melb. It should dock in 4 days!! It's actually creeping up faster than I anticipated. Still yet to sell my other car, arrange finance, book in the venturesheild ect.

I hope the time goes quickly for you. I don't know what I would have done without these forums to keep me enthused. The wait times appear to me to be a total luck of the draw thing. My uneducated guess is it just depends on what you order (colour, transmission ect.) and VW slides you in wherever they do a batch of cars matching your spec.

The best price i have been quoted so far is $53,670 (Drive away), includes the following:
-18 Inch Alloy Wheels (Detroit)
-Adaptive Damping Control
-Leather Upholstery
-Metallic Paint
-Power Sunroof
-Premium Sound System
-Xenon Headlights
-MDI
-Full tank of fuel
-Dealer delivery

Can anyone please comment on the pricing? Is it a good price with the options above?
