I think you'll find 65% to be quite optimistic given a new model has just been released. -
Resales/trade in values are absolutely hammered across all makes right now, that 65% would be VERY optimistic.
Not knowing the condition/mileage on that example, but assuming all good, then the $15k isn't stupid low - the dealer will add their usual $5-6k mark-up assuming they put it on their lot, and that lines up with a few dealer examples on carsales at the minute at the 21-22k bracket.

Yep. Price halved. I had a manual without any extras. Had it valued for trade-in at 2 dealers and $15000 was the price with both (red book quotes $14900- $17500). Car in excellent condition with 39000km on the clock and new tyres. They gave me $4500 off the asking price of the GTI which helped.Originally posted by Mountainman View Post

Cheers! It's not a bad colour,am glad I found one at the right price in a decent shade.
Gave the car a service yesterday:
And started adding some extra sound deadening today,starting in the spare wheel well:
Then fitted an OEM Tiguan rear swaybar,seeing as I had one lying around from the wife's car (which now has Super Pro bars F&R),and it's roughly 3.5mm bigger than the wagon's stock bar. Should cure a little of the understeer.

Hi all,
I have made my first car purchase after driving my old mans old 2003 Camry altise since getting my licence a couple of years ago.
I have got myself a Red 2010 Golf GTI Mk6
Payed 25k (excluding govt charges etc.)
57,000km on the clock
Sunroof, 18" Detroits, GPS, Reverse Camera and classic GTI Cloth Seats
Darkest legal tint will be done when i pick it up from the dealer on Monday
Was super happy to find a GTI with this combination of options etc. seems to be quite rare that people get most of the options and leave out the leather seats! I love the cloth seats!! only thing missing would probably be the Dynaudio sound system, although the stock one sounded quite decent
Thoughts? Any tips for a first time GTI owner?
