hurray! just got a call from the dealer, the car was still at patrick's autocare cause they had lost the key.

they have informed me that it has been replaced and my R will be at the dealer next week!

Well after getting told yesterday that I'm definitely getting my car this week as it's finished detailing, then getting the bank cheque today in preparation, it's now being delivered Wednesday.

Next Wednesday will be great

I think the only annoying thing about this is I have been doing all the calling about it with no instigated calls from the other side. Once my OG dealer left (who was fantastic), it's been.. an interesting experience so far.

Then we are told the wrong thing anyway and run around for nothing. Yeah I'm ****ty but chin up for next week.

Hopefully delivery is better.

That's very reasonable time.
I was waiting 6 months for my T5, 3 months for Tiguan; I didn't ring them, dealer was emailing me with the progress.

Got the R...

I took delivery of the blue beast last Thursday and only today have I had a good chance to take it for a decent run. I concur with others here in that the R is indeed an awesome car. I can do the commuting thing around town in D (DCC in Normal or Comfort) without hassle and do the B road thing (today’s trip being a blast to Mount Glorious\Nebo) in a way that makes it very hard to stop smiling.

I love the look of the blue on black. I was a little worried about my choice as photos do not do the colour justice, but seeing it with the black 19’s I was very happy.

Delivery
The delivery experience could have been better, I never even saw the salesman, instead I was passed on to the ‘Delivery Coordinator’ (essentially a 20 something girl who knew less about the car than I did). They went through the vehicle etc. but that was it.
I contrast this to three years ago when I bought my wife’s Comfortline (less than half the price of the R) and we had a gift basket, VW Merchandise and a complete run through of the car. This was followed up by a call to see how things are going. I don’t really care about the goodies, but when I am dropping a huge chunk of cash down for a car, I kinda expect the sales guy to own the customer, all the way through to delivery rather than be handed off to the part time receptionist.

So with Austral, I got a reasonable deal, but the service was far from optimal.

On The Road
So today’s (Sunday) run up the mountain was a good chance to see how everything works together and my goodness, how does it work together....phenomenal grip (even in today’s greasy conditions), the DSG is perfectly sorted (in Sport, with some minor hesitation in D) and the ride is firm but the feedback is just unbelievable.

Needless to say the acceleration is quite impressive, I will have to quickly get used to the very short time it takes to get into the licence losing zone....

I don’t have any serious niggles, a lack of storage space is a bit of a pain though.

I am yet to fully explore the Nav & Audio.

For some reason I got the MDI...I had not ordered it specifically and it does not appear on my invoice. So I guess it’s a bonus.

So its so far so good. I am heading into see Guy in a week or so to get the APR Upgrades done.

I had a similar experience when picking up my GTI last week from Paramatta. The sales guy I had bought from who was awesome had since moved on and I got a junior guy who was keen enough to help and knew the basics of the car. I had asked them several times not to put their dealer plate holders or stickers on pre delivery, but they did it anyway.

They also put and old version of maps on my Sat Nav and didn't set the DVD region. The old version of maps caused me a lot of grief due to a bug in that version which causes the whole RNS510 to lock up in the central coast region and forced me to take it to a local dealer to fix.

I was also really surprised by the lack of any sort of gifts whatsoever. Not even a damn VW cap! To add insult to injury I still don't even have my bottle opener!

just came from the dealership. Second window tint is now applied and looks freakin OK. Hope its legal! Delivery tomorrow afternoon. The light at the end of this very l o n g tunnel is bright and within my grasp. Thanks again WWWatercooled

Ordered 118TSI in September.

Expected delivery was in January, now its been delayed a further 2 months until March.

Disappointingly long wait, and I thought 4 months was hard.

just came from the dealership. Second window tint is now applied and looks freakin OK. Hope its legal! Delivery tomorrow afternoon. The light at the end of this very l o n g tunnel is bright and within my grasp. Thanks again WWWatercooled

Sorted, went up to the dealership today after 2nd tint was applied, looked through the passenger window to confirm seat was repaired. Couldn't see a thing!!! gotta love the second tint. After the salesman opened the door, yes I can confirm seat has been repaired or changed out.. So all go for delivery at 3:00, Having another scotch now, looking towards the light...
