  • Haven't seen this behavior at all...odd.
Can you just set the clock in the MFD? It should immediately reflect the time change in the Discover Media.

Weird right. Setting the clock in the MFD doesn't change anything on the Discover Media, it looks like it's grabbing the time from the satellites and overriding whatever you set the time on the MFD to. It also impacts the Discover Media navigation, the time to destination etc is all wrong because it thinks the time is always 12:00. Can't seem to find any setting to adjust the time/date?

      • OK there is no date/time setting in the Discover like there was in the RNS510. It reads the time off the CAN from the cluster.
Do the steering wheel controls etc work ok?

        • I am having the same issue.
Steering wheel controls are still all working fine.
I will attempt a factory reset later and confirm the outcome.

After a factory reset, nothing has changed.
            Super frustrating.

            • Can you check in adaptations that you don't have clock enabled in BAP features?
              Should be set to disabled.

You can retrofit an MQB MIB2 unit.
Will also need a new screen (you can use either the 6.5 in or upgrade to 8 inch if you get the surround trim and vents also)
This is from a post from last year. Can you explain about the 6.5 or 8 in screens? It looks like the MIB2 is only 6.5. Why do you say the poster also needed a new screen?

MIB1 screen is lower resolution. If you upgrade to an MIB2 unit you need to install an MIB2 screen either 6.5 or 8 inch. If you upgrade to MIB2.5 you need a 9.2 inch screen
NOTE: these are ONLY applicable to MQB cars.
For earlier PQ platform cars (Golf 5/6, Passat B6/B7, tiguan Mk1 etc) you can only use 2DIN units like the 6.5inch Discover Media, RNS510, after market options etc

                  • Did you get to the bottom of this and correct the issue of the missing Mhz arounf pg 13 of the post? I have a similar problem for AM radio and interested to see what the fix was.

Cluster software doesn't support the data being sent to it.
Only fix is to install a newer cluster.

                      • Thanks, I've also noticed that the auto day night setting doesn't work in the Nav screen either which also gets sent to Carplay nav as well. Otherwise all travelling well.

                        • Should work, as should dimming using the dial for instrument cluster lighting.
I think there might be a setting for it to be turned on and off?
                          I'll have to check.

Make sure it's set to auto for day/night

                              • Hello Im doing upgrade from RNS510 to Discover Media on Golf MK5 2009 Variant. After unit install everything seems to work fine, Rear OPS, Steering wheel buttons, climatronic (shows outside temp), time synced from cluster, BUT I cannot get menu on cluster (audio/ navigation even telephone) as I was used to while RNS510 was installed. Now I get only MDF and SETTINGS menu.

Gateway forced me to set Audio, Navigation and Telephone checked in instalation list. in this state I get no ERROR but only on 5F Infotaiment. I have no option for 5F in Instalation List.

Problem I am trying to solve is that I need that menu options and I want to see navigation instructions or actual song name and control telephone..

I have red maxidot as in attached picture
