Firmware updates for RNS510 units in Australia/NZ

Hi All,

Need some help.

Tried updating firmware on my RNS510 to v4120 but it failed about 51% of way through. Now have no radio etc. Looking for help on getting another copy/or loading of the 4120 software so I can finish the update.
Have rebooted but requires the installation to complete before I can get back to normal use.

Go to original post and download the version that fixes your problem and load that and start again Here it is

What version is your 510 as early versions wont load 4120 as stated in the OP WILL BRICK IT

Not sure on exact version, however it is from a 2010 passat so assumed it would be ok. Tried the secret menu but never got passed the radio menu.

Hopefully I haven't bricked it!

Ok heart palpitations have been averted. Downloaded and loaded the fix and all working. Thanks HB!

New problem is that everything is in German. Even when I go to the system menu and choose English it remains in German.

Load the map....then select "English" as language.

I can now interrogate the unit by holding the setup button and have discovered my h/w version is 0006. So I may try to upgrade to 52xx firmware and see if I have more luck. Although the minimum burn speed my laptop will do is 10x which I believe may cause issues...hmmmm dilemma's.

-I thought the H/W version relevant to the latest version firmware you can run ends in a letter... but I think radio HW 0006 is usually in the later LED units ... C+ so should be OK

Same here, minimum 10x write speed, common in the newer CD burners/Cd media. I wouldn't worry about it, I never had a problem with it using IMGburn.

Thanks YL, I am in the process of loading it onto dvd-rw (due to size) now. Fingers crossed it goes smoother than the 4120 upgrade.

The software lets you select that, however the burner itself sets the minimum speed. You will request 1x and receive the lowest available, usually 16x these days...

Unless you have a very new unit with DAB+ I wouldnt use it as you could brick the unit

The 5238 on here is probably the latest you should use What version is your unit

4120 is Ok and there is no reason to go higher as there are no obvious improvements in 5238
