Firmware updates for RNS510 units in Australia/NZ

Make sure you get Aussietigs POI database loaded on there too for speed cameras etc

That POI db is great! I mostly use the speed/red light camera points, but there is so much more in there!

Hi guys,
Does anyone have firmware 6270 or the newer 6272??? I have a R model (C14) and it is very buggy and want to do a clean install. For some reason, I cannot find any links to getting it. What's the go, why is this not available anywhere?
Any help would be much appreciated

Because you need to wait for a factory install CD to be made available. If it's buggy go back to where you bought it from.

Hi Guys, I was thinking about updating maps and firmware but after reading warning on 1st page about HW radio version 0003 am now a bit stumped!

What would be the best firmware to use for the following specs (or should I risk it and try 4120)???

HW-Version: H04
SW-Version: 2760
HW Radio: 0003
Active map: Aust+NZ
Active map: Sensis
Map version HDD: 7360

4020. Any higher could damage your radio tuner board permanently.

Is there any limitation on the map version I can use or will the latest version of maps combined with Aussietigs POI database be OK?

No limit with maps or POIs, just firmware.

Well... running in the FW4020 update now..... the first 2 disks ejected with errors but the 3rd has stayed in. No instructions popped up on the screen and the screen is really, really, really dim.

The CD seems to be spinning and whirring and you can just make out a VW logo in the top left of the screen. It's been going 20 minutes now so will go downstairs to check it out in about half an hour.

Is the dim screen (almost not even on) normal or am I just lucky???

Doesnt sound right and its usually done on a DVD. There is a menu it goes through at normal brightness If you go back through the thread they are pictured doing it in its various stages
You should write it as slow as possible using Imageburn to be successful It usually takes an hour but shows on the screen what it is doing

well.... it had problems

managed to get it to boot up but no audio..... going into the secret menu there is now no Delivery part number or SW-Version.

Will try a DVD this time on another PC...

Success!!! Of sorts... Couldn't get a 4020 disc working and thought I'd bricked the thing as the radio was kaput even though it booted up properly.

Put the old RCD310 in and thought I'd have to have the RNS510 updated externally maybe next weekend.

Decided after dinner to try one last time with different images so downloaded 2760 and 3810.

Back down to the garage, removed the 310 and connected up the 510....2760 disc didn't work so tried 3810 - Bingo! It started loading properly!!!

A very nervy hour later it's all installed and running sweet!

Don't think I'll bother going to 4020.... had enough excitement already

Will get POI's installed next weekend.

I've burnt it to 3 DVDs and one cd

From a Mac if that makes a difference
