I've just done my FW update and it worked smooth after some small errors. It kept cutting out and giving me error messages. Once I've burned the FW on a slower speed it worked fine.
Now the problem is, my navigation from my columbus doesn't appear on the MFD anymore. First I could turn on the Compass and see instructions on the MFD.
But now the whole option has disappeared.
Does any of you know what to do??
thanks,

So I decided to bring it back to Skoda today and let them sort it out.
Well I got the solution (I hope) of why my steering wheel controls are not working properly.
Skoda advised me today that it's a faulty Clockspring. They've done a full search of any faults in my car, and they came back with this solution that it needs to be replaced. They started off with the software diagnoses and then pulled my dash apart to investigate further as the software showed up there was no issue what so ever.
I'm pretty p****d off about it since my car is only 4 days old. So they gave me the car back today and I need to bring it back on Monday once the new clockspring has arrived from the warehouse.
So yeah this was the bad news for nowMY12 - Octavia vRS Liftback, Brilliant Silver Metallic - Revo Stage 2

Hi guys Ive done these upgrades for years now on my 2009 MY10.5 R36 sedan and I now have a problem with a slight low level static noise from the speakers after upgrading to 4020. Ive rechecked all my recoding and cant find anything ive missed and everything seems to be working. Its not very annoying because you cant here it once you turn the volume up or start the engine but it definitely wasnt there before.
Anyone come across this before? I seem to remember having this before recoding when I went from factory to 2680 a couple years ago but that was when it defaulted to 2 channel front speakers. Ive checked and I have active speakers and BAP selected and all my controls, speakers and displays work. Checked my CAN config and it has everything it should...??? Anywhere else I should poke around?
Thanks for any help and thanks for the V5 maps and latest FW!
Cheers

ppls, from my personal observation, the FW upgrades are not for everyone... especially if you have not done one previously.
one needs to ask oneself, what is the reason to be upgrading ? what is the gain ? is data loss on HDD worth the risk undertaken.
4days old car !
hmm, you are certainly brave - at what costs though. Sorry to hear you have problems post the upgrade but more thorough research could have saved you time and $.

I bet you dont have a VAG-COM or VCDS software do you?
You need these to recode the multifunction steering wheel and sometimes some other stuff too.
It depends on what firmware your going from and to.
The dealers are clueless to this as they have diagnostic units that cant do some of the things you can do with VCDS and they only look for errors. As far as your unit is concerned it doesnt have any faults. It just doesnt know whats connected to it because the unit needs to be recoded. The dealer wont know this unless you told them you tried to upgrade the firmware and look at it in detail.
I went through this with my dealer when I had my 1st service and my sunroof miraculously stopped working.
I went back and forth several times trying to get it fixed and it was eventually diagnosed as a faulty electric sunroof motor after several other parts were replaced. In the process of elimination before they finally realised it was the sunroof motor, during one of the attempted sunroof repairs the dealer pretty much broke my NAV because they for some reason thought it needed to be upgraded to fix the sunroof... Then they couldnt workout how to reactivate all the controls and get the sound working.. Idiots I tell you.. idiots... I had to fix it myself with VAG-COM and VCDS.. Thankfully I have been using this software since 1998 so I know what to look for.
In anycase, you should have done more research before jumping into a FW upgrade. The current guides often dont make the statement up front that sometimes you will have to recode things after an upgrade and you will need access to VAG-COM and VCDS to do it. Only some dealers have the more expensive VAG diagnostic units that can do some of the required recoding. There are a couple of different diagnostic units that different dealers carry and your dealer may not have the ability to fix this even with a factory reset. (which they probably tried)
If you find the clockspring doesnt fix the issue, (sounds like they are taking the piss out of you to me) then I am happy to meet up and diagnose and most likely fix your problem on the spot in 10mins.
PS... I doubt you want them to do this (link below) to your brand new car to repair a faulty "clockspring" to find out it doesnt work. !!!!
Bottom line.. I wouldnt want a dealer digging around like this in a new car after my experience.

I've done a lot of research in regards to the upgrade. I've been reading for over 3 days to see what the problems are. On various websites (even ones in Europe) came back that with new Octavia's it's not going to be an issue and everything is going to work fine.
So yeah it's jsut a bit sad
