Decided to give the drags another crack tonight before I'm back at work next week. First run of the night I did a 13.3 which I was pleased with as it was already better than my PB leading into tonight.

Few more runs in I had a cracker, 13.1 @ 106MPH. Had it of been winter weather with some cool air and less waiting around in between runs (was an event night so had to give way to all the bikes and dedicated drag cars), I believe a 12 sec pass could be realistic. Looking forward to winter. [emoji16][emoji16]

    • A while back I had a stock manifold ported out like a lot of the guys in the UK do. It had been sitting on the shelf for a while, but finally got around to installing it last week. It had been well ported with a lot of the material in the collectors being removed and smoothed out. Install obviously meant dropping the turbo again, but once that was out, swapping the manifold over was a quick job.

So by Saturday I had it all installed and had driven around to make sure it was leak free and running as it should. Initial impressions were as you would expect, a bit earlier spool up and mid-top end felt as though it's flowing a little more freely.

Sunday was another rolling racing morning at QR so I figured it was a good opportunity to see how it feels WOT down the straights.

Here's a vid from my races on the day and a few pics I got from the install also. I tried to get a pic of the difference before and after porting but the pics don't do it justice as to how much has been removed.

      Anyways, Enjoy [emoji5]

Another rolling racing day, another vid. Went back to race a few mates I had raced previously to see if there was a difference on track. Loads of racing in this one, 30+ races. Best race of the day was the white A45 AMG with an intake and exhaust. The Neck and neck races had us both laughing afterwards and the "TDI" badge collected a lot of attention from the competition.

        • Got a question about your launches. I know it'd probably be different for you with the K04 compared to my K03s, but are you using a lot of clutch slip throughout 1st gear to prevent wheelspin?

Only for the first few metres or so then I drop the clutch and just feather the throttle to maintain reasonable grip until 2nd gear. Once into 2nd and the spinning stops it's foot to the floor. It's a fine line between spinning a little bit, and just free spinning on the spot. If I don't get the launch right I just putt down the strip because you know you're not going to get a good time if you stuff the first 60ft, but the last time out all my 60ft times were 2.2 or lower.

Next time I go I'll setup the camera so you can see/hear it from inside the car.

            • ok cool. that's what I've been doing too. I start with the clutch held at the bite point, loaded up against the handbrake at about 2500rpm. I've just changed to soft compound semi's so i'll probably need more launch revs to stop it bogging. we'll see I guess. thanks mate.

                No worries mate.

That should certainly help a fair bit. Also bare in mind that I would be dropping my tyre pressures a lot more at the strip than what you would be for hill climbs around going around corners. Think I had my fronts at just under 20psi last time I was out there.

Hey guys, little while since I posted. I went out to QR again on the weekend with downshift and a large Vw group had organised to attend so I got a few of the polo guys together as well to join them. Was a fun morning having good mates and fellow polo drivers to muck around with out there.

Here's a quick vid of what we were up against. I think I lined up nearly every Vw out there.

To give you a gauge of the pace of the different cars, the white MK6 GTI at the start is stage 3, the grey TTRS is Stage 1 with water meth. All of the rest of the vw's varied from stage 1-3 as well.

White Polo is Dan (pazzuzu). His is CC stage 2, with the 6 speed gearbox.

                            • Hey Lads, The polo will be undergoing some new mods in the coming months so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming parts I'll be looking to move on once we move into our new place and get a chance to get it up on stands. One of which is the addition of the wheels I got a few weeks ago. They are Advan racing RG's 16x7.5. I got a great deal on them but the factory paint was chipping badly so I'm restoring them.

I used paint stripper to remove the bulk of the paint, then they were off to the sandblasters to remove the remaining paint and give a nice even finish ready for recoating.

Still undecided on what colour I'll go but it'll likely be a dark grey.

                              • Bastard!!! I hunted for at least two years for a set of 16" RGs but never found any. My favourite, up there with Rega's!
