Crickey I was proud that I'd gotten my 60ft times down to 2.70's at the hillclimbs. consistent 2.30's is quick and 2.14 is mental. wavetrac?

Nope standard open diff still with the factory clutch. Just dropped tyre pressure in the fronts.2006 GTI Polo - Big Turbo Build - Louis19's Build Thread

How are you launching? I turn the ESP button off, hold it against the hand brake with about 1800-2000rpm, come up to the friction point of the clutch and then launch. I have time to do all that though because in hillclimbs you go when you are ready after the light goes green and timing starts when you break a beam. Our 60 ft splits are hardly ever level and not as much rubber in the launch area, but still 2.142 or whatever you got seems quick!

I launch a bit higher, about 3000rpm, handbrake on, traction off, ride the clutch slightly for the first metre or two then release it fully. I can't just dump the clutch otherwise it just freespins badly, even if I launch at lower RPM. The 2.1 60ft felt bloody good. I knew as soon as I launched it that it was going to be a good run.2006 GTI Polo - Big Turbo Build - Louis19's Build Thread

Been a little while. I went out to do some laps in the polo with Hi Octane again this morning at QR. Handful of other VW's out, as well as the usual mix of evos, skylines, subarus, etc

Here's one from inside one of the WRX's in the video above (black with gold rims). The owner has informed me it's actually a forged build making 222kw at the wheels.

Hope everyone's enjoying the break and had a good Christmas!
The polo has been getting a bit of loving the last couple days. Headlights had seen better days so I gave them some new life as well as a clay bar of the car and a couple coats of wax. Pretty pleased with how it came up.
Also installed a whiteline rear sway bar yesterday and had some new Bridgestone Re003's installed just before Xmas so it's just about ready to hit the track again in Jan 2017.

Badgeless grill looks awesome too.
Thanks mate! Headlights I sanded back then used a buffer and polish to get them cleared up followed by a handful of coats of wax.

And you've reminded me again I have a clay bar sitting in the cupboard waiting to be used. Good to see a polo getting some love!
That was my first time using the clay towel and it didn't take long to get it silky smooth. The size of the towel makes it perfect to chop down on time. I probably only 1.5 hours with the clay then a couple hours waxing on and off a few layers. Paint is now the smoothest I've ever had it, feels amazing.2006 GTI Polo - Big Turbo Build - Louis19's Build Thread
