As I said I have it on the hardest setting so most of the air goes back into the intake, and no engine lights have come on the dash yet... If anyone has VAG-COM in brisbane and wants to scan it I'll drop by, but I'll get Jimmy to have a look at it in a couple of weeks

Some install photos.. Not the best as taken on camera phone:
I have noted that there is a very slight backfire on 3-4 gear change at part throttle, but nothing too drastic.. Still no check engine lights and I gave it a real flogging around Mt Nebo this morning

Spec83 - I purchased that same Turbosmart compact and thought all was good, no check engine light but it will log a diverter valve error using a vaglink, I didn't realise until the guys at CVWC checked out my APR tune, just something to keep an eye on, but apart from that you get a hiss setting it up that way and a flutter setting it up the other way, so just wondering which was is the appropriate installation???
APR tune seems to go into limp with most of the Diverter valves I have used
Seems the tune is not very agressive, if you try to squease out a few more PSI it will just go to limp

Never had a problem with my APR R1 DV and an APR tune ... you sure it is a tune issue and not the DVs you've tried ? Had a mate with a WRX who always had problems "eventually" - so it it the difference between a diaphragm and piston DV ?
Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the DV just allow release of pressure back into the intake when you lift off throttle ? The only reason you'll go into limp mode is if it is either leaking while on boost or doesn't put dump air back into the intake - my understanding. Don't see how that is tune related.
Also, don't get your point about trying to squeeze out more PSI in an APR and going limp ?? Considering the numbers some people have punched out with the APR tune on the 1.8T in various VW & Audi cars, once again is it the tune or some other component failing ?
Guess what I was trying to say is if that the Turbosmart Valve is sending the car into limp, it could be the software.
With my APR tune, I have played with the car and getting it to about 23-24 psi in 3rd gear and always go into limp, as the APR tune is not meant to be that agressive.
I guess everyone is happy with the 17-18PSI they see with the tune lol
So to cut it short, if your going into limp, you could be boosting too hard, could be partly due to the new Valve
The reason I think things will go into limp mode is because the ECU is expecting to see a certain amount of air back into the system when the throttle closes.. If this is not sufficient, then the ECU will have a checksum error and throw a code. Also, if the spring on the BOV is not sufficient and leaks boost, the amount of air in will not equal the amount of air delivered at the manifold and a code will be thrown because again things don't add up.
The install as per the pictures is the correct one if you follow the Turbosmart directions.. You get a flutter on part throttle and a woosh on full throttle. Car was pinging and running like a dog when it was the other way round.
I'll get Jimmy to check for codes in a few weeks when the car is serviced and report back then, but so far so good
Received some attention and care this weekend with a thorough polish and wax not that I assisted the cause, perhaps I just got in the way lol it does look super reflective and very, very smooth.
Can't wait for the sun to come out so I can see the metallic flake better though..
