  • As I don't track the car (its been over a year), the peak cornering speeds on a track are not relevant to my setup.

I don't ignore your input, but like to try everything for myself. As I've not played with cars before the Polo, I like to feel from the wheel rather than read on the screen / paper the maths or theory behind an idea. I was not much good at study, so I guess that makes sense... When I can feel something, the theory then starts to click.

There isn't that much to change, really the biggest issue and fun I've had with my car to date was the swaybars. When they were binding, it made them feel twice as stiff. When they work well, I get a good amount of grip in the corners, still to understand how a fwd car with sways staying more level will get less power down out of a corner than a car with minimal / no sways rolling heavily. Maybe that one you can explain to me, as this is something I think the sways help with greatly, again in suburban driving. Obviously a diff would change the game, but we don't have a proper diff.

      • The filter is not the issue, its the flow into the box. the 2 best solutions so far IMO (and it is only an opinion at this stage) is to keep the stock box and add another inlet from somewhere or to fully enclose the pod away from the engine heat with good 3" or larger ducting.

This is just playing around really, the fans still kick hot air into the new pod filter area, my intake temps will still be higher than the stock box, but this is just the first step.

Easy is not the goal, its more about hands on testing and playing, hopefully with a solution that is better than the stock box. If its not, well, I had fun.

Apologies for the iPhone quality (lack thereof), but I couldn't wait till I got home with the SLR.

            • Awesome. I wanted white wheels for my red GTI, but know I wouldn't keep the, clean enough...

has the ride / handling changed much?

              • It's hard to tell, I was babying around town today because I had the old wheels in the boot.

I imagine i'll become a regular (on a daily basis) at my local carwash.

                    • you might want to consider taking of the side-skirts as well, I think it works well when its low

                      • I like the skirts as they compliment the cupra lip well (or vise-versa in reality).

I would consider body matching the upper part of the rear black valance as has been done before.

won't really work well with the cupra R lip though...........

Keyboard warriors take note, this is how it's done properly.

I must admit though, these twists sure aren't as light as you're Enkei's unfortunately.

What setting do have the dampers on?
from factory, for both front and back, you can turn the adjustment thingies an extra 720 degrees, so i figured that makes 5 settings.

for the back, it's on 4/5, for the front it's 3/5, although im thinking of turning the front up to 4/5 because it's pretty low, and ive heard some scary knocks and metal clangs in the last couple of days. i'll probably raise it a few mm too. given that the rears are only externally adjustable, i figured that 5/5 would be impractical for daily driving use, and would only really be beneficial on the track. but then, i wanted the fronts to be slightly softer than the rears to assist with turn in etc.... well, at least that's what i learned playing gran turismo haha (dont laugh too loud, though - i learned how to reverse around corners with a trailer on, thanks to the semi trailer missions in grand theft auto)

If she leans, stiffen the sways. It makes some bad roads uncomfortable at low speed, but by the time you're doing 60, most surfaces are fine.
those shots are with the weitec "fail to deliver on the promise of" lowering 30mm springs, haha. as for rolling - none of that here. the thing corners much better than it used to, now. nice and flat. i'll keep the rear sway on medium because any further improvement in handling / twisty road driveability would have to come from other things like better rubber, in my personal opinion. turn in is nice - you can still feel some understeer because of the heavy engine, but nothing like what it was before.
