  • Fitted up my Bilstein B12s and H&R springs.

First thoughts - less crashy over the small bumps in the road, but still very firm. Not for the feint hearted, thats for sure. Haven't put it through a corner at speed yet; not until it gets wheel aligned today.

Just got some horrible rattles and noises from the front end to search for now. With my 35mm drop, would these noises be coming from my sway bar links?

Took 2.5 hours to fit 4 springs and shocks on the hoist last night after work. Surprised how quickly we got it done.

    • I'd have a guess & say that the bolts on the top mounts have worked themselves loose. It doesn't take much and you get these weird rattles and squeaks from the corners of the car. I recently had the very some suspension fitted and I had to have them re-tighend about 3 times in the end. Also with mine I noticed that it took about 2500Kms for the suspension to really settle down and bed itself in. I found it initially a very bumpy and hair raising ride but now the car sits rock solid & flat in every aspect and makes it an incredible ride.

So are you coming to Wakefield on the 14 then? Make sure the sway bar is living up to expectations?

Hopefully rear sway bar and control arm bushes will be going in next Friday.

            Been playing with tyre pressures.

              • Just got the Pioneer AVIC F900BT sat nav/DVD unit installed today. Very happy with the results and it improves the otherwise simple look of the interior.

I installed one in mine a couple of months back but i'm not completely happy with the result at the moment.

Did you get yours done professionally or did you do it yourself?

Issues I have with mine are that I feel that it sticks out too far from the dash (and this is using a cage I ordered from the uk that is for the polo), and I've had problems with the connects2 canbus adapter.

I actually had to remove the canbus adapter yesterday as there is something wrong with it which was causing the headunit to constantly switch itself on and off while driving. And even when it was working properly it only switched it self on and off with the ignition signal and not accessories (ie: would turn off when the engine stopped, not when you pull the key out).

                  Ben.

Got it installed professionally and doesn't need a canbus adapter so working fine. Headunit doesn't stick out much at all. Maybe only 1-2mm so very happy with the result. Apparently, the Golfs etc require canbus adapter but not the polo.

Correct, Polo doesn't use CANBUS for radio, only Golf, Jetta, Passat.

                        • Yeah the polo does actually use canbus for the radio, but you can get around it by tapping accessories from elsewhere (my old headunit had accessories and illumination tapped off the bottom of the cigarette lighter socket).

I wanted to get speed sense for the gps so I decided to do it "properly" and get a canbus adapter (also thinking it would keep the radio on until the key is pulled out, which it doesn't).

The problem is with the canbus adapter, looks like it loses canbus connection (the led indicator goes of periodically, push one of the can wires back in to the adapter and the led comes back on and the hu turns back on). I've removed it for now (got to get it replaced under warranty) and bone back to having it tapped off the cigarette lighter socket (left the wiring in there just in case).

Mine sticks out at least 5mm from the dash, i'm using a cage imported from the uk as the pioneer doesn't come with a double-din cage for some reason. Unfortunately the position of the mounting holes means that's where it sits.
