turns out that after the factory warranty expired you must have your car serviced every 6 months (but twice as often if your car is turbo)... so i'd have to get the polo's oil changed every 3 months.... oh and the maximum payout for any one claim is $1000....
so i wont bother going back to my dealer.

Was going to wait till Adam opened his new workshop on goldcoast to get 45000k service done but needed transmission fluid changed and wiindow fixed unde warrenty so got it all done at once. All my minor services so far have been sub $200 but today they wanted a nice $369 for my match. Plus that after I call and am told car is ready, then receive he text saying it's ready, get there and told to wait 25-30min while they test drive it.
Won't be bothering ever again the VW service unless warrenty issue, same with our other VW.Daily - 2007 Polo Match

I had my new 17x8 OZ Bottecelli wheels & Marangoni Zeta Linea tyres mounted & installed on my GTI today and boy I couldn't be happier with the result!
Photos & thoughts on it soon to follow...APR V2 Tuned, APR Dogbone mount, APR R1 DV, K&N Panel Filter, SEAT Intake, Forge TIP & FSB, Bilstein & H&R, Whiteline RSB, Full Milltek 2.5" exhaust

I was actually a tad worried about fitting a 215 on an 8" rim causing scrubbing issues so I erred on the side of caution and stuck with a 205/40/17 Zeta linea. Now that's not as stretched as most would think. Ideal rim size Marangoni suggests for the Zeta is 7.5" with 8" at its maximum so I am quite supprised that the tyre does not look very stretched at all on the rim unlike some tyres do and there is stacks of clearance even with the car lowered on bilstein struts & H&R springs. Everything just squeezes in under the guards but there is not a hell of a lot lee way with the inner rim edge to the struts. I's say less 5mm or less so I'd say I could have probably squeezed in a 215 without rubbing and I'd say you could even attempt a 225 with perhaps slight rubbing on the struts but that's not really a situation you want to be honest.
I was also not that keen to add extra weight to the wheels so with this setup there is substantionaly less weight than the stock wheels & tyres. I can already feel the immediate effects of the lighter wheels with better steering & better acceleration & speed.
I read an article the other day which really supprised me. It stated that for every 1Kg of wheel weight, it is the equivalent of 10Kg of sprung weight. So for instance if your wheels each weigh 2Kgs lighter than stock which is a total of 8Kgs all round, then its the equivalent of removing 80Kgs of sprung weight to the car!! That really blew me away. Thats like removing an adults weight from the car. The same principle applies to adding heavier wheels. So bottom line is; don't add too heavier wheels to the car if performance is an issue for you.
Anyways I'll try and get some pics up later today!APR V2 Tuned, APR Dogbone mount, APR R1 DV, K&N Panel Filter, SEAT Intake, Forge TIP & FSB, Bilstein & H&R, Whiteline RSB, Full Milltek 2.5" exhaust

Interesting theory on unsprung weight
I don't know the physics, but I would think that the difference in weight is more relevant to the torque than hp effects (make sense?)
That is to say, I think it would affect taking off from stand-still more than accelerating from 100kmph.
