I get a big cloud of smoke on acceleration, plus heaps of soot over the back of the car. My wifes diesel doesnt blow near as much as mine.
I had a cloud of smoke behind me today, but I was hoping it came from the truck I was overtaking. But i also got an issue with the back of the car being covered in soot
Done 4000Km and had 2 oil top ups. Are people buying their own oil or taking it back to VW to do for free? Mine have been free so far. Could this be an admission of guilt?

I get a little smoke on a cold start for about 5-10 seconds and then it's fine. Haven't noticed a ploom of white smoke when planting the right foot as yet.
I do have a ton of soot (I believe that's fuel related) and I'm about 1/2 way down on the dipstick (2,100kms) but I haven't checked it in a while
My dealer said they would top it up for free and gave me a brochure from Castrol when I picked up the car telling me it's normal for VWs to use oil. I haven't needed to go back in for them to top it up and considering all the lies I've had to date, I doubt they'd be good with their offer of free oil........

I think I jinxed myself. Started up the car tonight and got the oil warning light. Done 4401Km and this will be the 3rd top up. When I checked the oil level about 20km later it was only just covering the orange plastic ball at the end of the dipstick..
Obvious oil ring problem!.....The rings aren't sealing and you are getting oil in the combustion chamber......The mechanics shouldn't really bugger you around....You can't get any more obvious than that.....Black smoke/soot definite piston rings......

Dont know why vw havent fixed the prob if this keeps going they wont be remembered as a classic but a dud they need to move arses now or give a 20 ltr can of oil with car till next sevice lol u gottas laugh!
Had mine topped up this morning at the dealer. They topped it up free of charge...in and out in 5-10 mins.
Done 4400km and required 1-1.2 litres.
Hopefully will taper off after 5000km.
Only been reading the Oil issues since late last week.. Waddya know.... I've done 4000kms (YESTERDAY) in the GTI Polo and Check Oil lamp and alert pops up on the dash!!
Same with me GTIPolo6R I too went to my dealer and they topped it up. Barely any left and they just recommended me to go buy some Castrol stuff... they explained because it's a new car everything is wearing in and every 1000kms a litre would be used.

That's utter BS - the dealer should be providing you with top up oil as they have done for others here.
Resident grumpy old fart VW - Metallic Paint, Radial Tyres, Laminated Windscreen, Electric Windows, VW Alloy Wheels, Variable Geometry Exhaust Driven Supercharger, Direct Unit Fuel Injection, Adiabatic Ignition, MacPherson Struts front, Torsion Beam rear, Coil Springs, Hydraulic Dampers, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Disc Brakes, Bosch ECU, ABS
Pah, mine used less than a litre in 6700km from new and ask walkerchan, kaanage, RS Dave, and Buller Scott (squealing tyres and all!) that I wasn't hanging about on the 2 cruises I did with them.
I hope it does settle down for you though. How often are you peoples using WOT?
