I don't think the GF will lug it home, very heavy!
I still haven't installed my mates yet but it looks like a easy job.
He is waiting for his bung plug which wasn't in the box.
I agree with tigger73, stainless steel just for looks. Get the resonated test pipe version.
When I looked at my mates downpipe, i noticed the box inside saying Magnaflow Exhaust Products, Universal Catalytic Converter. All the sections of the downpipe had this, with original labels.
My mate got his 42 downpipe installed and didn't like the sound or vibration so he went back to stock, maybe it was vibrating because he didn't get stage 2 software yet?
. Anyway his 42dd downpipe now for sale as he decided not to go stage 2.
Did your mate get the test pipe version? Did you get to hear it yourself before he took it off?
Mine had been delivered (to Sacramento), should have it to install in a couple of weeks...

He didn't get the test pipe version. I heard it and it was loud inside the cabin not outside.
I think it was too much noise for him. I didn't install it for him as you have to take out the drive shafts to remove oem one.

That is strange! A DP for a Tiguan hardly make it louder. If it is a vibration I believe may be some installation issue ? If I was him I would go to another exhaust place and get them have a look. Specially when DP coupled with the stock cat back section, if not aligned properly or not mounted correctly DP can vibrate and hit everywhere. I had a slimier issue where DP hits the tail-shaft center bearing housing making very annoying noise when car accelerate. Then got it fixed by making a small bend around that point.
Software got nothing to do with the vibration. I drove Tig without stage 2 tune couple of days and actually after software installation it became little bit more louder

Spoke to my friend and he said that the downpipe was touching the heat shield right under the gearbox. That may have caused all the vibrations.
He also had a problem with the reducer as it didn't fit the rest of the muffler and had to go over it using a u bolt to close it over.
Yeah sounds like product is not very good. Also there is not much space in there for the DP so tolerances are bit tight.
It is unfortunate your friend took it off otherwise could have play around with the heat shield or even remove it to see if that fix the problem. Also could let the manufacture know about the issue so at least they can fixed the issue in future releases.

Sure hope this gets sorted for everyone that bought one. Sounds like there may be some differences between the US based Tiguan and the one we get here in terms of the exhaust but that does sound strange as I thought the US Tigs also came out of Wolfsburg. Perhaps the exhaust is different for different emissions laws
Or maybe there are just fitment issues. The 42DD website says these are for 1st gen Tiguan 2009-2011 so not sure what people are trying to fit these to and what the difference would be for the facelift 2012+
Short term fix? Did you replace it? Or are you still having problems with it?
Adjusted it many times in the short period of time i owned it - but no matter how tight you do the bolts up on the bracket, the weight/movement of the engine would cause them to slide on the bracket and it would rub again. Annoying.
To be honest i could have probably taken it to an exhaust shop and got them to adjust it and then weld it in place but i was fed up with it.
I think Lucas is running another brand DP now - SPM 3" Downpipe with custom resonator according to his build thread
Yep - the SPM fits much better and looks better, but it sounded crappy. So i had a custom resonator made and fitted and now it sounds much nicer. Resonator looks like it was made to be there too.
