The above tells you that, should torque stay constant, power increases with RPM. To say that you want the same power across the rev range means you would need to keep dropping torque linear with the rev increase. Hardly desirable.
Am curious to know from those who’ve applied a tune or chipped their car what the effect on insurance is?MY17 Tiguan 162 Highline | DAP | Rline | Pano Sunroof | Pure White

Seems to think an extra 40Kw at the wheels should be achievable. Just waiting on my car to come back from the repairers and see how it is before deciding if I'll do it or not. Was sitting at a red light when someone decided to keep going and ran straight up the back, they were doing around 60Km when they hit, the car went under mostly, took out the rear black bumper, damage doesn't look to bad, but terrible vibrations driving afterwards. Smash repairer reckon it's the exhaust out of alignment... Anyway will share the results when I check in with Jordie next week unless the person is already on hereTiguan Gen2 162TSI Etuners IS38 Stage 3 238.6 kw@4 wheels

Have had three cars with stage 1 APR and was/am very happy. Without it the Tiguan felt a bit dull and boring to drive. To be fair, I’m comparing it to an RS3, also tuned, of course.
Example below, same car 2 different tunes. Black line tune make more power but right at the top end, blue line tune makes less power but much bigger area under the graph the whole rpm range. Blue tune would be a lot better to drive and would win any race.

I felt the same, power wise. The car is SOOO much better with the tune but I honestly only bought because the APR tune (or others) was available. If it hadn’t been then I would have looked at a higher powered Audi.Last edited by ewok666; 20-05-2018, 10:09 PM.

I suggest talking to your insurance company before you modify your car about what they will/won't insure. Some companies (e.g. Allianz) won't allow any modifications, whereas an insurer like Shannons will allow you to pretty much do anything to your car that you like. Main thing is that you disclose your modifications to your insurer as you don't want to get into a sticky situation where you make a claim and it gets denied due to not disclosing modifications. Insurer will claim that it increases their risk/exposure.
There's many insurance companies that will accept a software tune but not all so make sure you check and get it listed as a modification on your policy.

I wrote a whole new thread about the APR tune that I can’t be bothered to type out again.
But can say bang for buck it’s very impressive and it feels like it should have done from the factory! The torque increase is amazing, pulls really hard and now feels & drives like it looks with the Rline pack!
In normal mode - it now has the torque to avoid the DSG kicking down and pulls well.. a bit more torque to make normal driving easier
In sports mode - massive difference. From 2k rpm pulls and then 3k really kicks in 🙂 it now feels sporty and when accelerating can now feel it making use of the 4motion.
The car now feels like it should.. very happy wirh the improvement.
Should add it feels like a very turbo boost pressure tune.. but that’s not a bad thing.. if the turbo messes up it’s probably the cheapest part to replace. Plus having different driving modes helps when you want to run around on something less aggressive.
