    Questions I have:
Are there other good tuning software besides APR?
    Any recommended tuners in Brisbane?
I only have around 300kms on the odometer - is this a right time to tune, or is it too early?
There’s a few good options other than APR. If you’re in Brisbane I’d be putting RD Technik, Spectune and Racingline in the list for starters.

Personally I’d put a few more km on the clock but I also know people that have driven out of the dealer straight to their tuners shop.

Try etuners or BPS, both have well priced custom tunes with before and after dynos.

        Second BPS autos

Reasonably priced and passionate. If we were out of warranty we would of used them to tune

The GTI dp is for a front wheel drive, we have awd and so the bends are a bit different so we need the Golf R awd dp.

Thinking about pulling the trigger over the next few months, I’m keeping an eye out for an IS38 with Low kms (not first gen- which had issues).

I spoke with Gordie from etuners a while back and they have been getting some great feedback for their tunes. They have a dyno in Melb and can do a before and after run (around $100). Let me know how you go.
I noticed that Underground Performance is the official “etuners” represtantive in Victoria, and that “etuners Motorsport” run by Gordie is a different company. Has anyone got their Tiguan (DSG or ECU) tuned at either?

Gordie posted a statement on FB recently saying that they are 2 different companies.

I was meant to have my tig done but been too busy with work, trying to book it in within the next 2 weeks.

Awesome, let us know how it goes. Are you doing both TCU and ECU tunes? I would be interested in getting you opinion about the drive after TCU tune.

Both. Stage 1 should be fine without the DSG, some say its a must for stage 2.

I had a MK6 R previously and test drove one with a stage 2 DSG tune and it was brutal even during everyday driving, was like someone was kicking you in the back during every gear change.

                  • I just spoke to an APR tuner here in Sydney, they said the stage 1 high torque is fine on the stock transmission, and will take it from 162kw --> 235kw and 350nm --> 500nm.
                    CRIKEY it would pull hard!

It's not warrantied work, so you run the gauntlet in case any issues with gearbox or engine. Personally i think i'll run it for 6-12 months before tuning to reduce the risk of any manufacturing defects popping up that would not be warrantied in the case of a tune. He also said there is a counter on the ecu, so it will show how many times the ecu has been flashed. So in the case of a new car if you take it back and it has counted additional flashes, they'll most likely take note and claim you have tuned the car so the gearbox and engine warranty is void.
Above said, and taken with a grain of salt as he's motivated to sell these tunes, he said they have rarely had issues with this sort of thing and they have plenty of return customers having new cars tuned.

Has anyone had an APR stage 1 done in Aus?

                    • My Tigs booked in for the 29th to have stage 1 ECU, DSG and pop and crackles tune done with etuners motorsport. I am putting in a BMC drop in filter also. Etuners said if I didn't like the DSG tune they would revert it back to stock at no cost.

Will see how that goes then might do the CTS intake, downpipe and stage 2 tune.

Benefit with a custom tune is that you can have it as aggressive or safe as you want, with generic you don't have this option.

                      • Will look forward to feedback on how it is post tune.

What's the cost of the stage 1 ecu tune with Etuners?

Yeah, the APR tune takes 30 min, no dyno time just a generic upload.

I will video and take pics and post when done.

I have APR stage 1 on my Tig R Line,
night and day difference. I’m waiting to hear about other people’s experiences with the TCU tune, before going down that path. The Tig R Line wheels are 29kg a corner so it won’t feel as agile as the 500nm might indicate, it is still very quick. My next step is the IS38 turbo swap and down pipe install......

                              • Melb_Tiggy, if you don't mind me asking, how many km's did you have on the car before you had it flashed?
Also any issues, and how many km's have you done since it was tuned?

The IS38 and downpipe will have that Tiggy moving QUICK. Will you upgrade the clutch for that one too, guess it's mandatory for that sort of power?

I'm still in a bit of disbelief that such huge gains are possible from only an ECU tune on the stage 1..
