    THANX for the Welcome

I will check with the VW dealer if it possible to reflash the MIB-II Infotainment system with "GTI / R" firmware.

        • So today I found the time to go out and do a couple of more "serious" tweaks other than messing with the DRLs brightness all the time.

I first removed the Torque limiter which eliminates TCS kicking in in the lower gears (despite it being switched off in theory - there's a whole thread about it at GolfMK7 for anyone interested) Worth noting that upon disable, a couple of yellow warning lights ( think it was the ABS and ESP and/or engine) started flashing for 5-10 seconds until they turned off by themselves.

While I was at it, I also changed the Start Stop voltage limit to 12 to get rid of that silly system. Then I started the car, drove a few meters to see if any fault would show up on the dash but all seemed good. Checked the values after switching off/on again and they had all been saved as they should.

However doing a scan before shutting everything down I got a Transmission Control Module error:

P173400 - Starter release from the selector lever sensor system
          Intermittent

My question is whether that could be related to the values changed or it was a coincidence it showed up now? And more importantly is it any serious error I should worry about or one of the random ones that can be ignored. I cleared it but haven't driven the car after that to see if it'll come back.

Last scan was just 2 days and 100km ago. The car is a brand new Clubsport with 1200km on the clock. All tweaks were done with OBDEleven.

          • Footwell Lighting enhancement - Hearing Impaired Aid for Turn-Signals

I developed this tweak after being approached by an acquaintance that had a hearing difficulty. Her initial question to me was: is it possible on a mk7 to increase the volume of the "ticking-sound" when the turn indicator is enabled?

After a number of unsuccessful hunches and after following numerous web-site leads, I came to the unfortunate conclusion that the answer to the question was NO (or, phrased more accurately, no-one seemed to know how to do this).

So I turned to an admittedly less effective, but hopefully still helpful alternative of using a visual prompt to achieve the same result. As some (many?) would already be aware, the Leuchte-sets in a mk7 are principally focussed on controlling the vehicle's exterior lamps. The one exception is the footwell lighting which all the cars in my database indicate use LED lamps. The tweak below adds the turn-signal functions to the footwell lights so that they pulse to indicate to the driver that the blinkers are operating. Because of the rating of the LEDs, the effect is not dramatic during daylight, but it's more effective at night!

Anyhow, I enclose the instructions below in the hope that the tweak might be useful to others in a similar situation!

            Don
            1. Select 09 - Central Electr control module
            2. Select Security Access - 16 from the "Open Controller" screen
            3. Enter the magic number 31347 and return to the "Open Controller" screen
            4. Select Adaptation - 10 from the "Open Controller" screen
            5. Enter "LC72" into the search box and from the pull-down button check that the current settings for all the adaptation channels shown in the picture below are as indicated in the Existing Settings column (note I have shown the latest RT nomenclature for adaptation channels which include the "Object tags")
            6. Change only the Leuchte channels as per the picture below to the values in the New Settings column

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the wider expertise of other forum members! Thank you.

            • Could you attach something to those lights to make a loud buzz then, achieving the result they want?

                • I was going to suggest to hook it up to a big subwoofer...

Wait a second, could you somehow then connect it up to the in door speakers...?

Eaglehawk: I like the way that your brain works, but I'm not sure that driving a speaker with external signal source at the same time as music info is also driving the same speaker would be a good thing for the MIB!

                        • Hey!
                          I have a question:
You know when you lock your car with the remote, the hazard lights flashes one time and when you unlock it flashes twice.
I am wondering if it's possible to make the single " lock flash " a bit longer, say 2seconds.

                          Anyone know?
The VCDS guru mr DV52 might have an idea?

                            Sbuddz: Halla.

First, thanks for the kind words, but there are many far more knowledgeable VCDS guru's here than me.......and to prove this, my response is - I don't know of a way of increasing the strobe time for the lock acknowledgement flash on the turn signals. Perhaps someone else here can advise how this is done.

If you want to accentuate the lock-door function, perhaps you might consider adding an audible acknowledgement instead. I've written instruction for how to do this in the VCDS reference thread.

Have a play with 09. Central Electric. Specifically, this channel:
                              (4)-Acknowledgement signals-Optical feedback during locking

Default value is "Decelerate", not sure what the possible values are as I'm at work. But change it and see what happens.

On another note, discovered this channel:
                              (6)-Acknowledgement signals-Optische Rueckmeldung 3.Bremsleuchte

Appears to flash your third brake light to acknowledge door locking.

                                Thank you for your answers.

DV52, I have already activated the aucoustic acknowledgement on my car, thanks to your eminent guidance.

Agentthumb, I have tried this option as well but I really can't tell the difference between "decelerate" and the default one.

i will look around some more in the central electric section but guess is that this is controlled via something else.
if anyone has an idea please let me know
