I've just got my car back from its 120,000km service, and was surprised to see the oil type changed from Liqui Moly 5w30 TOP TEC 4200 to Liqui Moly 10w60 GT1, because "its starting to get a few kilometers on it now" and have been running Stage 2 for most of its life.
Is it just me or is that extremely thick oil to be using. This car gets no track time at all.| 2016 VW Golf R 7 | DSG | Pure White | Leather | Sunroof | Driver Assist | JB4 |

all this vw504.00 is quite interesting.
all vw504.00 oil is also BMW-LL04 oil which BMW and MINI don't recommend using in their petrol engines due to the rather high sulphur in our fuel.
TBN in the vw504.00 and BMW-LL04 oils is around 5-6 only. VW502.00 / BMW-LL01 oils tend to be around 9 or even 11.2 (LM Special Tec LL 5W30).
anyway, perhaps VW knows something about Aus not so low in sulphur fuel that BMW doesn't knowMitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD

especially that a typical golf mk6 r runs at 88-92 degrees C for street use in oil temp and a typical 5w30 oil has viscosity at 100 degrees of 11-12 cSt.
that specific LM 10w60 is rated at 24 cSt. that's twice the viscosity of typical wv504.00 oil.Mitsubishi Pajero Sport - Super Select 2WD/4WD

If it was a dedicated track car, I may consider using this oil. I didn't have any oil consumption issues just using the 5w30 top tec 4200. I think I topped up ~2L over 10,000kms.| 2016 VW Golf R 7 | DSG | Pure White | Leather | Sunroof | Driver Assist | JB4 |

15k service intervals preferred. What engine oil (and filter) should I use? Any notably better than others? Any cheaper oils that are still good to use for these?
The Shell version is usually around $65-$75 at Supercheap.
As for the filter, Genuine VW, Hengst, Mahle, or Mann are the go. Don't use the Ryco or Wesfil filter for these. They are garbage.'07 Transporter 1.9 TDI
