Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • In mine, maybe it's dfft, the intake pulls from the grill AND the engine bay

Wouldn't the general grill openings pull air for the engine bay ?

    Still confused

    • It seems you are not following me, I am giving a possible reason for the hole , to give cold air to the engine bay, nothing to do with intake, which will draw cold air from that same spot, but obviously warmer air from the big gaping hole which I presume is there to let cold air into bay.

      • Are people seeing dealers offering much in the way of discounts for an R? Seems like dealers not too interested in dealing (when it comes to an R...)

        • I have another observation/complaint. Does anyone have the headrest slowly creep it's way up (standard R seats, not the leather)!? My one does, I have no idea what is causing it, only the drivers one. It is a shame the button thing to help push it down doesn't also lock in place for it on the way up also (it has a fairly weak "ratchet" like behaviour where it will ratchet up easily, and needing the button to push it back down)... I have a good mind to wrap some tape on the poles to jam it in there a bit harder....

Regarding deals for the R, good luck, they are no longer making them (I remember reading somewhere the last orders for the R for Australia were about January or so) and so the stock they have now can be sold for a premium (aka RRP no discounts).

          • Ze Germans are thoughtful

Heated seats switch goes to high on first push rather than low

            User friendly

            • The only problem is the switch is in clear view, no good for pranking people

Turn ignition on, then off. Tap the wiper stick down one ( to the x1 ) wipers will move the the vertical position on windscreen. From there will lift no dramas.

                PS. Read the owners manual.

In France at moment. Was apparently the latest message I read, but was to quick to hit reply before the following pages to load. Besides, the only answer given was: Read the manual.

Not much of an answer IMO!

Just like RB, it is soon to be redundant

Sweet irony that all those nappy white Rs will have to wear the badge of RB honor pleases me no end
