Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • If you drive with your windows up 100% of the time you may not notice and difference in noise Len. I also have the VW Racing intake and I can assure you it's much louder than stock. Next time you take your car out, put your window down and give the car some throttle.[/QUOTE]

I've tried it with the windows down, not much different.
    Maybe Audi uses more soundproofing?
Also, you have a downpipe that may be increasing the noise.
    Cheers
    Len

    • He only just put the down pipe on.. For sure there is a bit more suction and blow off valve sound with aftermarket intake.

Hi again Len. Ive had the intake fitted for about 5 months, and only had the downpipe on for about 3 weeks. The downpipe changed the exhaust noise but made no difference to the intake noise.

No doubt your Audi probably has more sound proofing than the Golf, but i still would have thought you could hear the VW Racing intake very clearly. Im stumped as to why you cant hear any difference.

Refer to my video here. You can clearly hear the intake sucking on my car:

        • Couldn't open the link in Tapatalk but found one of your videos with turbo flutter.

          Is that the video ?

Glad mine is pure induction noise and relatively brief only on hard acceleration

I understand the sound might not be to everyones tastes, but im only 30, have always looooved the sound of turbo whooshing, and the car isn't a daily driver. Mind you, im using the throttle agressively to make the sound more prominent in this video. If you drive sedately or with lighter throttle the noise is really not much different to stock.

I'm in mid life crisis mode (have been for 20 years and more) but that is one sound I can live without

              Good on ya though

              • I actually like the standard sound lol however I have noticed when on the freeway and backing off the throttle at around 110 / 120 kmh that there is a slight reverb back through the exhaust at first i thought it was some type of vibration but am 99% sure its the exhaust, has anyone else noticed this?

Re the exhaust noise - standard

                  • Yes have noticed that sound, also made when backing off the throttle in mid rev range. Sounds like the exhaust scavenging under vacuum. Love that sound. sounds like a mini F1 car.

couldn't care less if its artificial (soundaktor douvalaky) or if it's genuine. Love it!

Get rid of all fuel use gauges and replace with useful stuff

                          • No, FW was a wish

Regarding the P3, most cash Ive spent on anything for the R and I'd rate it the best. Just from my perspective.
