Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • LOL oh ****, lucky my car is fast enough to get away hehe

Dan, you shoulda waited to hear it! I'm not sure about the videos on youtube of the non resonated one. Sometimes it sounds ok, then sometimes it sounds like a fartcan fitted to a ****box.

As per the GB thread, payments need to be done by the end of next week to qualify. Break down of pricing is in that thread where he's responded to me. I believe it is going through http://www.jkm.org.uk which if you check the website is $2k without shipping. Keep in mind, you'd most likely cop the 15% extra for GST/Duties (think its 15%) when it landed but still mega cheap.

I also found http://fr-rtuning-shop.co.uk who are about $200 cheaper again for the exhaust, but unsure of shipping costs. Check out their other prices -$180 for DS2500 pads, $715 for the THS intercooler, $960 for the APR fuel pump, $220 for the Whiteline ALK and $2400 for the KW DDC Coilovers. So need to move to Europe!

    • For $1,200 you can by the TurboXS DP then get a local exhaust shop to do a cat back for you which should be less than $800 even in stainless. You've still spent $2k but you're supporting local businesses. I've actually had comments from other drivers (including a 911 Turbo) that my current set up with the stock cat back sounds good so you could save some money or spend it on other goodies.

FR&R may be cheaper on the exhaust but I'd check their shipping costs. They charged me 25 pounds to ship an RS4 fuel pressure relief valve which weighs all of 50 grams. The package that arrived had a charge of 7 pounds from Royal Mail so they have a bit of a mark up. The FPRV still only cost AU$85 landed compared to US$115 at ECS. Their prices are also exclusive of VAT so if you plan to pick it up from them and get it shipped yourself you'll have to add 20% VAT.

        Thanks Dave!

Gah I'm way too broke now to do any mods. Will hold off till the end of the year. Hopefully there will be another group buy then.

I've also managed to track down a fellow forumer who's got a Milltek installed on his R and is in Melb! Will see if he's willing to meet up.

Looking forward to changing to something decent.

Im assuming you are talking about RE050A. Play with your tyre pressures because I am finding them very good. Very predictable in the dry and the best bit, very predictable in the wet.
