Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

When I said higher position in my post before, I wasn't talking about up the windscreen (service mode), I was talking about the 2 positions it goes to in the lower arc... it has a higher one and a lower one and I don't really know why they bother?---

Mmm, mine has never gone lower, on either car
Still has 2cm left in sweep
Meeting a couple of R owners this arvo - will see what they have noticed
Thanks for the info
The two park positions are to ensure the blades don't sit the same way each timeLast edited by Candyman; 06-05-2012, 12:29 PM.8VSS2L/16 E9E9 XG MP SPP1 4ZD 6XK CSC5P with an extra free 10kW

I dunno why though it decides to park them in the higher position more often than not... another VW mystery.
edit just realised I repeated what CM said above

Its not the feature you are talking about which moves the wipers a half inch or so when you shut the car down depending on if you used them or not? It does this in order to not have the wiper blades worn or bent to the one side.Originally posted by tonymy01 View PostI wouldn't do that, notice that under some operation, the passenger one *does* tuck down there, it seems to have two positions it comes back to depending on ??. I was suggested that by Candyman moving them down by a few centimetres as they are dry parked, will cause then to hit when they do their funny extra pull down they do on the passenger side in normal operation.---

The "funny extra pull" is as we have all mentioned - that is the final position and is only a small movement down to move the blades to a different position each time.8VSS2L/16 E9E9 XG MP SPP1 4ZD 6XK CSC5P with an extra free 10kW

I just assumed they pull down further when driving (when not in use) for better aerodynamics. When washing the car the left one is not quite all way down but to be honest I'm not bothered. Friends who think they're funny still can't raise the wipers up.

Occasional one on passenger side @ freeway speeds. Not sure if A pillar or glovebox.
