Golf R Observations and Questions

Yep I agree. Both things are so rare and hardly cause a headache, so i'm not pushing for either of them to be found and fixed by VW. Anyway, now that the car is through its first service and nothing has fallen off or exploded, it's time to start seriously considering some little tweeks I think. My Family stickers and neons ought to add 50kw easy I would have thought.

If your looking for more power then the absolute best bang for buck modification is a stage 1 tune. For $900, my advice would be to get a tune from DNA Tuning (sponsor on this forum). My car made 204kw at the dyno day on the weekend with a stage 1 DNA tune (plus intake and downpipe). Awesome value for money, good service and much more power than any other similarly tuned car there on the day.

Yep, I think a stage 1 tune is hard to go past for the money and a little taste test of things to come. i think my car, even at a year, is still too new for me to want to go doing anything serious with. the last 2 cars i've owned i've modded to varying degrees and whilst they give you huge satisfaction some of the time, on the whole there were changes that really shat me off on a day to day basis, so given this is the first new car i've ever owned, and one that cost me a bit, i'm hesitant to molest it too much just yet.

it's just upsetting that by the time i'm ready to upgrade i probably won't be able to buy what i want with a clutch pedal or a normal handbrake!

Well guess what SF, maybe I do have a Friday car because the new BT module they fitted doesn't always get recognized by the head unit

Got it done today as steering wheel was off centre

Front and rear were off, rear way off

The odd pothole but nothing major.

The guys said they are seeing R's in frequently

Bugger. I was in Townsville earlier in the week and have a free wheel alignment owing but decided that as the tyre wear was so even I wouldn't bother.

My tyre wear was even too - slight scuffing but nothing major

I'm now planning to get it done every 3-4 months.

Those other fixes are getting sorted around 8 tonight - will probably have to see if it all got sorted tomorrow and Sunday

I had my tyres rotated and balanced at 15,000km no alignment, 27,000km now and even wear across all tyres, though there's not too much life left in the Dunlops!

I refuse rotation and dealer stopped rotating tyres on R's a while back

Not wise. If rotation is required, issues.

Tyre wear is not a good indicator wheels are aligned correctly

A short video lead up to the final video coming in a week of my R detailed by Final Inspection on my recent trip to Melbourne. The full video will be BR quality and a start to finish detail, so I am told.

Was well worth the visit to Mexico.
