Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Love the D mode in my R. Massive improvement over my MKV GTI
More an in between of D and S
Earlier R's seem to be the same as my GTI, changing up too quick and just annoying.8VSS2L/16 E9E9 XG MP SPP1 4ZD 6XK CSC5P with an extra free 10kW

yeah I read that a lot but came to the conclusion that you have to drive it differently and also it takes time to bed in.. I find it very smooth now, I drove into the city today and it was a delight just cruising. Now if you want the boost to come on in traffic then you are in for an exasperating time.Current Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

my car is missing the front right one. told the dealer who has ordered one in.
thing is, what are they for? seems to me like they're just for compliance and they don't serve any functional purpose... i think the car would look better without them?
Wheels have to be contained within the guards. VW or someone feels that the wider rims and tyres of the 19" makes things too close...

i guess i'll keep them for now since i cbf taking wheels off to remove them. but if a serious photo shoot comes up i'll definitely want to take them off, they just look real funny!
cool fact to boast to friends though... "my wheels were too big for the car"Current: MY18 Golf R 7.5 DSG - FOR SALE

Hi,
Has anyone had a DOA sunroof? I picked up my car yesterday and the sunroof was not working. Hope its just a fuse. Has anyone else had an issue with this?
I took delivery of my GOLF R yesterday and noticed the sunroof wasn't working. took it to dealer today and he said bring it back on tuesday.
has anyone else had a problem with this?
Also Launch control - should you do it in first 2000Km? dealer just said drive sensibly no faster than 130 in first 1000km... but no mention about LC? where is the part in your manual on this?
where do you turn off the radio? but keep sat nav on? do you just turn down your volume?
thanks keg75Last edited by keg75; 04-11-2011, 02:41 PM.

no sunroof here, but should be trivial for them to fix.
i'm waiting until 1000km before i use my LCi gave it a solid thrashing at ~300km to bed the piston rings in (half an hour above 4k rpm) but want to be a bit more careful with the gearbox. odo currently reads 700km, so nearly there! heheh
the LC procedure is in the manual but in a diff section to the running in tips... can't remember exactly where though.Current: MY18 Golf R 7.5 DSG - FOR SALE

hahaha nah you've just given me a reason to test it outso it's available as long as the car is in sport with esp off? just stop, hard on the brakes, floor the throttle, then off the brake and launch?
good luck with the RNS... i'm going with an aftermarket unit, should arrive next week and will do a write-up either here or on vwgolf.net.au
can't help you with audio since i don't currently have nav
official running in tips are <4krpm for first 1000km, then easing up to redline at 1500km (lol yeah right). note those instructions appear to be for all golfs, no specific instructions for the RCurrent: MY18 Golf R 7.5 DSG - FOR SALE

Let me get this straight.
You're enquiring how to run the car in correctly, obviously in the spirit of longevity, and you're using launch control????????[SEVEN times in the last few days]
Launch Control is probably one of the hardest things you can do to your car.
Also, you probably won't go to a track day 'cause it's too hard on the car,but use Launch Control on public roads.....
Then you'll wonder why your clutch/clutch packs wear out so quickly.
Not much mechanical sympathy evident here.Last edited by MACCAA; 04-11-2011, 04:36 PM.
