Thanks I will trawl around there.. I did think I had V3 maps but know way of knowing as I didn't get the discs and there is no refernce point.. I do know these are 4.1..anyway off to trawl the suggested thread

No the Carbonio intake wont give you any errors Andrew. It doesn't / won't affect the "day-to-day operation" of the engine in any way.

As I said, I may be going crazy

I also may be checking the dash a lot more to make sure no warning lights have come on. My faith in my mechanical abilities is low.

I have got the 4.1 maps and drive around this black spot every day without a problem. According to the data in the secret menu I have got s/w version 2840 and map version Sensis 7492.

After your 06XT too you don't seem to have had much luck with gearboxes. Did you have any concerns with your GTI's?

think i may have had a false neutral yesterday... was in D manual and downshifted just before accelerating out of a roundabout, had nothing for about a second then it jerked and engaged. thought maybe it went back into auto just before i flicked the paddle and it got confused?

I had it happen twice, both those times I was fussing with DSG from D to Sport so i put it down to me not the unit.. that was months ago.. see if it happens agin before deciding it is a real issue

My Forester didn't have DSG

My 08 GTI DSG mechatronics was replaced due to some abrupt shifts and some low speed jerkiness

Minor, but I don't put up with things like that, others do
